You must have just made this up because it's totally wrong. One cubic yard is about 764 liters, and the average person breathes 6 liters per minute, or 8640 liters per day. Thats about 11.3 cubic yards of air.

Got it from my Funk & Wagnals calendar. If you don't believe it, take it up with them. Maybe they were missing a decimal or something.
