Today's my last day at this company

Well, I was offered two different positions about a month ago and decided between them. I ended up going with the job working at NASA.

Today's my last day here at the semiconductor company I have been working at and I'm a little saddened by it. I am certain that I made the right choice since I am getting a raise, better benefits and working in a sector that isn't beholden to the economy to anywhere near the same degree that private companies are (especially this field).

Still, it's a little hard to realize that a part of your life is over and you are having to begin anew.

Any thoughts on things to do to make it more fun? 🙂

that's definitely the best day.

things to make it more fun? leave at noon. or masturbate furiously.

I can't believe you didn't post the usual "masturbate furiously"

when your at NASA remember dont steal any moon rocks ! What will you be doing @ NASA? Thats an awesome job, Good Luck

I will be supporting a scientific team that works on the Mars mission. I'm a geek, but not on their level. I will be doing the IT admin duties for them.

And I will try to remember not to lift anything from them. 🙂

Is NASA still a good company to work for? I keep hearing about how their funding is getting less and less.

I wish you the best of luck, but even if NASA isn't as chained to the economy as a private company, remember that it is chained to Federal funding and whimsy. Every 4 years you'll have to worry about who's going to be elected.

LOL....

Most people probably won't find that as funny or get the joke behind that.....but, true story...I worked for a major defense contractor barely two years ago and one of the last major things that I had to do was a recovery of a test station that was running DOS v.5

Exactly, this is why I left my G job about 12 years ago. It's actually every 2 years you have to worry about, not just the presidential election years 🙂

However, I do think that NASA is probably one of the safer agencies to be with at this time.
