Today will be my first day working for Geek Squad.

Heh - i didn't see this before, but welcome to the world of large corporate computer repair. I'm convinced that at each store there is only really 1 person who really knows what he /she is doing. The downside is that they only work a fraction of the time. The only good news is that the customers are even dumber - if thats possible. Just for fun I like telling the customer its the classic ID-10T error.
Customer: "Do you get those alot?
"Oh yes, all the time!"

I <3 these tales. Remind me of my Dairy Queen tales.

My Geeksquad interview is Monday, wish me luck! (And for the area I live in, Geeksquad is decent paying if you have less than a Bachelors) =)

Oh and any tips? What do Best Buy Interviews go like? I hear 3 parts? What are the first two? The third is GM right? Hmm ! I'm excited.

Right now I get paid to do very little...but I only get paid like 8 bucks. 9 on weekends...I could really use this job! =D

(2 Years of Technical School, A+ and Network+ certified, but they didn't call until I redid the online application and reanswered those 14 pages of screener questions for some reason. 0.o)

That reminds me I was at Circuit City yesterday and overheard some "firedog" (CC's version of Geek Squad I think) people...

First Guy "Hey I'm trying to get this guys ethernet and audio working..."
Second Guy "Uhhh.. just install the drivers"
First Guy "What drivers?"
Second Guy "you know the nforce chipset drivers"
First Guy"Where do I get those???"
Second Guy (large sigh and face of retail depression) "the nvidia website?!..."

I tried applying, they never called....

Not Geek Squad though, I signed up for sales, guess I am no Daniel Casio
But seriously.... They didn't even ask for an interview, I know my knowledge was at least 2X as most of the applicants.... Seeing how most sales representatives don't know the difference between component and composite it wouldn't surprise me they were looking for tards.

the only thing you can do 2x than other applicants is EAT.

Way to bring back a 3 month old thread 😉

but I must admit it is gold, and makes me glad I didn't get hired by them when I applied my senior year of HS.

I worked there for a year and it was a fun job. I definitely loved the people I worked with and even some of the customers that came in were hilarious. And always those batty customers kept it interesting!
