Today we mourn the loss of a cherished friend

Today, we all (well, me at least) mourn the loss of a cherished friend, the Duron 700 which i have owned since December 2000 🙁

It appears to have died in it's sleep whilst waiting for a new home to be moved to.

We shall all dearly miss the 3 WUs a day that it had promised to deliver, and it has gone to the silicon heaven in the sky (along with that from Pamela Anderson 😉)

he will be missed 🙁

but like all great "pets" he must be replaced by new one, and quickly to help with the grieving. I hear the new breed of XP puppies are really frisky and cute.

Feel free to send it to mee so I can finish my AMD cube 🙂 I have 4 dead CPu's so far, need 2 more 😀

Besides, you probably helped kill it by overfeeding it with a 133 bus speed! It got overfed on the data and died, but it was a happy death!

Edit: Did you try upping the voltage to 1.85 to get it to post? Do you know the pencil trick to do that?

Did the processor die or did something else on the system? If it is the processor I might be able to help you out 🙂

My condolences on your loss..... but I think replacing it quickly would do much for the healing process.....

I have a duron 600 I got from evadman that I overfed fsb until it was an 800. It didn't die on me. Right now it is waiting on the KVM that I am getting today and a good old piece of plywood and will be running without a case...... 🙂

Evadman, it has not been running at 133 FSB at all, it's only been running on a KT7 @ 100 FSB. Haven't tried 1.85V yet, will go try when finished posting this message. If i cannot get it working, and i can't be bothered to try and make it into a keychain, then i'll PM you and we can talk about your cube 🙂

Crazee, it's only the CPU, my Athlon 1GHz works fine in the KT7, and the Duron doesn't work in my K7S5A (even with resetting the BIOS so that it gets default 100 FSB). What sort of "help" are you thinking....PM me 🙂

Fingers, i have just spent £70 on getting a GFX card, PSU and NIC for the machine, so I don't really have any money to replace him 🙁

Ijump, I was running that proc at 800 ( 133 ) for a while 😀 You need good collin' tho, or it becomes unstable after about 5 hours at 100%

Fingers: Currently, I have a 1.0 AXIA Athlon, 1.2 AYHJA Athlon, 1.0 AVHA Athlon and a 1.2 AXIA

<edit>On the far right. Pay no attention to the Doom Disk 😀

ConfusedBW: I forgot you live like a bajillion miles away from me, shipping would cost more than I want to spend, even if you gave it to me for free 😀

Doom Adult

The DOOM wad file replaces 45 textures with ADULT images. It puts a whole new look on the game.

ROFL!

evadman, I have a dragon orb that I had originally bought to run on my sons machine that is all prettied up with a window and blue liquid neon (All blue mobo, cards, etc) but it was too tall for the case. Hopefully that will work fine.

on a side note, does anybody know where i can get a cheep athlon? i'm getting tird of the slowness of my duron 850@1000

Alex 😀

Alex,

I'm not sure that the Athlon Thunderbirds can go "cheep", processors don't normally make a sound when they are running. If you want to get an Athlon going cheep, the closest you'll probably get is by having a dodgy CPU fan to make that sorta sound.

ha ha

You know garry i really have realised somthing....................................Your 1 heck of a nef!

ConfusedBW: I was playing treasure hunt in OT. Someone called for a doom disk, that was all I could find 😀

<edit>
Whohoo! My 3000'th post! Neffing my way to the top!
