Today Is Your Last Chance to Get Apple Care If You Preordered Your iPhone

Did you pre-order your new iPhone 4S? Did you skip AppleCare+? Well, today is your last chance to buy coverage.

And because Apple has a new no-freebies replacement policy now, it might come in really handy. Your chance to buy coverage ends today, November 14. It's not available online. You have to call in

If it really necessary to get Apple Care+? Really hate spending money on warranties.

I was working on a tile floor one time. My iPhone fell out of my pocket a mere 3 inches onto the tile and shattered the screen into a spiderweb. I had to pay through the nose for a replacement. It was super lame.

$99 for a 2-year replacement warranty that lets you replace or repair your phone for a $49 charge each time (so max $200 for the initial $100 warranty cost, plus 2 incidents at $50/ea) is a lot better than paying $649 for an out-of-contract replacement phone (assuming you get the 16GB model). You can take the risk if you want, especially if you have a heavy-duty case like an Otterbox, but I'd rather be protected since my phone is such a valuable part of my daily life - I want to be able to walk in and get a replacement or a repair ASAP. I'm not a fan of warranties and rarely buy them, but I did purchase one on my new 4S for those reasons. I use my phone waaaaay too much not to protect it with insurance!

You are missing some key information.

If you spiderweb/f your phone up you need to replace it, you can give it to Apple for $149, and they will give you a new phone. That's what they did when I dropped my iphone4 32GB in the rain and it was hosed. $149 got me a new phone, and I was 6-7 months out of warranty.

Totally unnecessary. 1yr standard warranty should be plenty long to find any defect.

Yeah like ViviTheMage said - it's about user damage. Accidental damage plan like Best Buy or Staples has - you break it, pay a small fee, get it fixed or replaced. I live on my iPhone, so the insurance is worth it vs. paying $650+ for a new one if I bust it.

That is what I am saying though, if you bust it, you can pay $150 to get a new one from Apple.

I have a squaretrade warranty, and they reimbursed me for the $150 out of warranty replacement. The squaretrade cost me $70~ at the time of purchase.

My good buddy is super-clumsy and drops his phone semi-regularly. AppleCare+ is great for people like him.

I think SquareTrade allows you to buy its ADP coverage within 60 days of purchase and with a coupon code, it's a little cheaper than AC+. People on SlickDeals were debating if ST covers the $200ish post-subsidy price or the fair market value of the handset ($649 and up). Their contract language is inconsistent, and some nit-pickers were afraid enough to just get AppleCare+ instead.

Oh, are you talking about the first year warranty? So it's $149 for a replacement during the first year? Didn't know that...
