After almost 4 years with the same machine, after watching my friends have fun with all the new games that I couldnt run for so long, Now its my time to shine !!! It may not be the fastest pc today, but it is certainly something I feel proud of. You have no idea how mutilated Ive felt all this time with such a crappy computer. Today, I become a man, this is my last post from my old machine. Wish me luck, I hope I ddnt connected something wrong.

Im moving from an athlon 2100+ that runs at 1500+ for heat problems, with less than a gig of ram and a geforce2 64 pro (yes, gefore 2), to an athlon 64 4200 + dual core, with 2 gigs of ram, and an asus 7900 gt, Thanks to everyone who helped me made my decision. I appreciatte your suggestions on what hardware to get. And I swear in the name of every gamer out there, that I will never let so much time pass without upgrading my rig !!! see you in oblivion !!!

What are you doing with your old machine? I could really use it for my crack rack!

And as for the new machines. :cookie: !! And where are the pics? 🙂

An impressive upgrade. I remember being in a similar situation. I had a 533mhz AMD K6-2 with 64MB of ram and integrated Trident graphics(ran quake 3 at 320x240 lowest settings at sub 20 fps). I had the machine for four or so years. I then upgraded to an Athlon XP 2000+, 512MB of memory, and a Radeon 9000 Pro. It was quite the upgrade.

You will be appreciative of your new machine.

Finally, Im here with my shiny new computer, unfortunately I dont have a camara to post pictures, but everything is working perfectly, from everything I bought the only thing that I kinda was dissapointed was the antec sonata case, not only is the 450 v power supply going to be insufficient if I add more HDs, but the case itself is small and the design is not so cool. But anyway, what matters is that its running fast, and I can run games great finally.

Don't worry so much about adding more drives, drive size is really increasing fast, so most people are not going to be adding, just replacing.

that's a minor upgrade, i'll give you a 100 bucks, just ship me the parts... 😀

But seriously Congrats, that's a sweet sounding rig.

hey, the computer i had before this one, which i got in january last year was a 400mhz celeron with an elsa erazor III video card, and 256mb ram. i got about 6 SPF (seconds per frame) in doom3 on that thing. i was suprised it didnt crash.

Congratz on the upgrade!!!!! feels great to have that power again doesn't it 🙂

I did the same thing but only after 2 years. Here are my specs:

Intel D930-with Big Typhoon and AS-5 (i know you all love AMD but I have Intel stocks so no flames please 😛 plus I got it at $19.12 per share)
ASUS P5DW2-E
Crosair 2Gigs PC6400 DDR2
XFX 7900GTX
WD Raptor 74Gb x 2
Sound Blaster X-fi
WD 250Gb SATA 16MB
Hitachi 250Gb SATA 16MB
Antec P180 (I can't hear my computer if it wasn't for the power light)
Enermax Liberty 500Watt
Kilpsh 4.1 Pro Media
Apple 30" Cinema Display (Oblivion Looks Great with everything MAX!!!!)
Logitech MX1000
Microcoft Keyboard - This turns 5 years old in June
Ratzpad 1100 - 3 years old

I once upgraded from P2 233mhz MMX to with Savage S4 4mb graphics card with 32mb ram and 8 gig 5400rpm hard drive to XP 1600+ 512mb, 80gb 7200rpm and Radeon 8500. It felt good!!!!

Enjoy your system. Now your friends will envy your system 🙂

thats going to be awesome. i can't wait until i get the gumption to drop the cash and pleasure my eyes.

good man! now get an aftermarket cooler for your videocard...volt mod it and watch your friends weep in sorrow before your price/performance epenis!

2 minutes to go until obvlivion finishes downloading, this will be a religious experience. Real next gen graphics, here now, in my pc !!!!!!

Congrats on some sweet hardware choices!

I know the feeling... I went from an FX5200 to an X1900XT. Only thing I can compare it to was when I had laser surgery done on my eyes... went from 20/200 to 20/15 in a matter of minutes.

Dude its funny that you said so, I also got laser surgery, and I know the feeling. Next day I almost cry of hapiness, my confidence went up like 100 % and it made me very happy. Its been 4 years since the laser correction, so far I still see excellentl, how are you doing ? Sometimes I forget I even had surgery done, this world we live on is so amazing man. At the same time we are doing so much damage to it, but technological advances are great, anyway, I dont want to get to a philosophical discussion.
