Today is my lucky day

So here in VT, it only snowed about 28 inches, maybe more today. Earlier in the day, she asked what i got her to valentines day to which i replied.. nothing... anyways, we were watching my 9 year old nephew whos mother is in south florida 🙁 Went down to local pizza place / acrade and we start to play Stacker I KNOW the game is rigged but I figure what the hell, I will show him. So i put in my 4 tokens ($1), and the very first game I win the damn thing! My sister is begging me for a designer coach bag in the machine so i select that. A damn PSP also dropped at the same time. So at this point, we are the only people in the place and the damn machine is going "ERROR, ERROR". The girl comes over and sees that we have BOTH prizes, which draws out the owner (who my sister knows). The manager says sorry about the PSP, and gives us about 30 bucks in tokens to make up for it. He even said its about a 300 to 1 chance to win the thing and wikipedia even claims 400 to 800 to 1 depending on the setting. WOW.

So you did or didn't get the PSP?

Wait - you let your sister talk you into getting a Coach bag for her instead of a PSP for you???

Got the bag, no PSP. He already has about every toy in the planet and doesnt need one. I owed my sister some money for bills so I figured he would get over it.

Edit: Already have a PSP myself, never use the thing.

Man, I thought you meant "got lucky" in another sense. Oh well.

With his sister no less... I thought the incest threads ended a while back.

Just remember. Luck doesn't exist.

That is because those who appear to be lucky are actually people who shape and make their own destiny and thus "look" lucky. Unlucky people make bad decisions and don't make the right relationships through life. Who you know is as important as what you know.

I remember this one time I was at an arcade when I was a kid. When Die Hard was there (which was an awesome game), it was messed up so that if you smashed the buttons hard it would give out free credits. I was on that machine the whole day 😛

Ya, me too. Would have been really cool if he would have gotten "lucky" at Chuckie Cheez.

Sounds like your unlucky day if you didn't get the PSP. I don't even understand what this thread is about. Is it one of the machines with the claw that grabs (NOT) objects?

While I do believe that "luck is opportunity met by preparation", there are events which are have some element of luck to them. I cannot get lucky in the lottery unless I purchase a ticket (thus preparation), but once I've made my purchase there is a huge element of "luck" that determines whether or not I win. I'm sure even the most skilled (prepared) Stacker player loses more often than he wins, and unskilled players win from time to time.

For the most part though, I agree with Ronstang's sentiment. Decisions have more impact on your life and its "fortune" than luck.

Well, if you'd click the link in the OP, you'd know what game machine he was talking about.

sounds like a good racket

wish I owned an arcade or convenience store here in vegas frequented by teens who aren't allowed on any slot machines.. I'd fill it with these machines and get those kids gambling at an early age

800 : 1 on a $1 bet, sure I'll give you a PSP, lol
