Since this thread has no particular topic, I'll plop this here.

I got some pina colada mix today but I don't have a blender. I kinda forgot that was an essential ingredient at the time. So I'm trying to figure out what to do with it and I came up with something that isn't bad. 2 oz of pina mix. 2-4 oz of milk. shot of tequila. 2 shots of kalhua. I call it a chocolate colada. I'm sure it's been invented before and I'm sure a blender was involved, but wtf. It does tend to separate out if you just stir it.

It would probably be fine if you just shake it in a drink shaker with some ice cubes and pour it out through the top filter thingy.

It's impossible to come up with any new alcoholic beverages unless you're using an ingredient that just came on the market. No matter how odd or disgusting the combination sounds, somebody has tried it. You just know that sometime in the past a party ran out of vodka, beer and mixers and all that was left in the entire place was Midori, capers, raw eggs and baking soda and sure as shit, they tossed all that in a blender and went for it.

It's not really much of a risk in a raid 5 or 6 array unless the rest of the drives are also seagate.

I think the point is that if the RAID is robust enough to survive the loss of a POS Seagate it's robust enough to survive without the Seagate being there in the first place. Why would you buy anything if it's expected to fail?

Crappy redundancy is still better than no redundancy at all. 😛 Though with seagates I'd do raid 6 before raid 5. But depends on how important the data is I guess.

That's pretty funny and yeah, no doubt. In my case, I was actually trying to make something tasty and when it turned out to be fairly drinkable and even pretty decent, I was pretty happy about it. 🙂

Because I'm a stupid, cheap bastard. Also, I seem to tolerate data loss fairly well. I had my entire porn collection in two virtual disks on 2 separate drives and I seem to have lost both of them. Not the drives but the files. I have no idea how that happened. Only the most evil hacker would delete a man's porno and leave him with nothing. So I'm thinking deus ex machina or maybe aliens.

What will probably happen is that I will have 4 wd's and one sleezegate drive. I might get a 5th wd for backup to hot swap.

BTW, anyone know of any good tape backup standards that I can get for under a grand where the media had at least a couple tb of capacity and I don't need to mortgage my house to buy say 5 or 10 tape carts.

When I looked for a solution myself I did not find much, it's tape drives that are crazy expensive. It ended up being cheaper to just use actual hard drives as tapes. You can get an esata or usb dock that they just pop in. Which reminds me, I have not ran a cold backup job in a while, probably due. 😛

I did a quick check and LTO7 seems to be the state of the art right now as far as I can tell. I wonder if I could get a deal on fleabay for an LTO6 I think that's 1.5tb uncompressed 3tb compressed.

Does anyone use bluing in their laundry? I looked for it at the supermarket and they didn't have any. One bottle lasts years so it's not like I buy it very often but I was surprised that they were out altogether. I did manage to find it on amazon though.
