Today I stop smoking (I made this thread one year ago)

Congratulations buddy - Well done 🙂

I know how tough it can be. I am still stuck with it. Yes I do want to give up but for some reason I just get completely stir crazy after 2-3 days and I just cant stop my self.

Sounds pathetic to non-smokers and to people who are lucky and able to give up at the click of a finger. But I am talking about severe headaches and tightness in the head and neck you cant bear, absolutley no sleep, constantly grinding of teeth, pyschosis I swear!!

I dont even smoke that many - 10 a day at moment (down from almost 20 a day a couple of months ago so I am making some progress!).

My point is that I know what you are saying... it comes straight out of all the books... it's a state of mind, blah blah blah but my state of mind says I hate smoking, I dont want to smoke, I despise cigarettes yet if I try and stop I get all the above :/

It's definitely easier for some to quit than others, I am sure there are physiological reasons for it. But hopefully I can make a similar post sometime 2006 cos I am 30 and it needs to stop 🙂

But how do you feel right now about the possibility of having one. My wife's mom quit a year and a half ago and made a comment a while back that if she was handed a pack,s he'd smoke the whole thing right there because the cravings (addiction) are still there.

Are you at the point wher eyou don't even want one, have no desire what so ever, etc? Or do you still have cravings but are just able to hold them off easier now?

Thank you, one less person out there raising our health insurance rates....and your own heatlth is better in the long run. (the last part is the important one.)

But congrats... I'm happy for you.
damn. i was feeling the "quit" in the thread that you posted! keep trying.

OP: congrats!!

going on 2 months here.

Very good job!

My parents smoked when I was younger and I would get bronchitis twice a year during the season's change from cold to warm. It sucked something fierce. I haven't had anything like that since they stopped.

Basically, you're not only helping yourself, but the ones you love. Thank you for cleaner air!

Congrats, hevnsnt & all others in this thread that have quit! 😀

I, too, am ready to celebrate my first smoke free year, and have never been happier about anything! My family bugged me for years to quit, and one day I finally decided I'd had enough, and was ready to do it for myself. Thanksgiving will mark a year of being cigarette-free! :music:  :music:

The amazing thing is that watching my grandfather die from emphysema-related complications, and 20 years later watching my father die from lung cancer, didn't do it for me! I only wish I could build a time machine and go back in time 25 years, and slap myself across the back of my head for ever starting!!
