Today I am quitting smoking for good. I have smoked for 12 years, and now it is time. It is going to be rough. :)

Day 1. I am trying the patch, I am sitting here buzzing. I still want a cig, even with the patch on.. I am just going to have to fight it.
-The day is now half over.. So far the hardest thing was driving into work. Tomorrow I think I am going to take a needle and prick my skin underneath the patch! :Q (j/k)

[Week 2 Update]
Well made it a full week so far!!!

I even went out and got RIIIIIIPPED on friday, and still did not smoke one.. That was freaking hard!

[30 Day Update]
Well today marks my 30th day without a single puff on a sig. I sent an email to cigarettes and this is what they sent back (yes, this is for real)

Dear Bill,

Thank you for being honest about your feelings. Although we've
been close, I admire your decision to put me aside and move
forward with your life. You have made a smart choice for
yourself and your loved ones. I wish you a happy smoke-free
life.

53 Day Update
STILL SMOKE FREE! I have not even had a freaking puff off one (new years was a challenge, but I drank my way through it) I am no longer on the patch or any other crutch.. I have to say the patch worked pretty damn good.

53 Days down!

178 Days of Not SMOKING!!!
Today is the 178th day of not smoking for me.. Man this is straight tits.

Well I guess I suck.. I gave up today after 66 days. It was truely a miracle that I quit in the first place (I'd never even had the urge or thought of trying before). Today I had really intense cravings for some reason, but I didn't have the will to quit I did in the beginning.

At about 35 days I thought I had it all figured out and that the habit was gone forever.. just goes to show nicotine can kick your ass at any time.

Congratulations on quitting! :D

I too quit back in November, right around Thanksgiving, and am approaching my 6 month anniversary without a smoke. The funny thing is that I haven't become a rabid anti-smoker (although I do lend encouragement to those that talk of quitting, along with advice that might help them to do so), but it's getting more and more that I really can't stand the smell of cigarettes.

Hard to believe I did that disgusting habit for almost 24 years, and dropped it in one day. No patches, no gum, no lozenges, just got so sick I couldn't smoke for 5 days!! LOL

Keep it up, and drop me a PM if you get weak and need more encouragement. :)

I was being serious. After a certain point you should just stop counting.
When you stop counting it turns the quitting from a proactive decision to a lifestyle.

Counting days is like saying "this is day number X of straying from my true lifestyle".
Drop the counting, live the life. If you want a milestone, start counting years.

Actually I am not counting anymore..

A smoking thread reminded me about this one, so I did the math and gave a number..

chrisms Ok, well start again now.. Dont count that little screw up. You need to place the little checkmark in your brain "I will never have even another PUFF" and go with it!

marvdmartian Dude thats crazy.. I had tried several times before cold turkey, and I always came back.. This time I tried the patch and man it really helped. Congrats on that!!!
