Do you people with the iPad use a case? Is the price likely to drop? Are they widely available or still in limited stock?

I had a bunch of questions lined up but forgot what i was gonna ask damnit.

Netflix is pretty slick, I really enjoy it. You can pause and resume the movie.

Of course, being an iPad & all, it overheats, blows up, loses it's WiFi connection, and I can't print the NetFlix movies 🙁

()🙂

All those flaws are serious except the blows up one. You make it sound like even when it blows up, it still works? That thing must be built like a tank to with stand blowing up and still work.

I gots to get one ASAP!

While the price could drop, this is Apple so I technically don't see it happening until the 2nd generation one comes out. As for availibility, it really depends where you live. I see people on here claiming they went to a Best Buy near them and apparently that BB had sold zero of them. Around me the 16 gig ones are totally sold out. Apple has sold over a million of them, so a lot of people are buying them and finding them in many areas might be a bit tricky.

I got the Apple case for my iPad at work. It's utter crap. Feels cheap, looks cheap, no magnet on the front (to keep it closed), hard to access the side buttons, stand doesn't work vertically (tippy), edges poke you. Avoid.

I highly recommend the apple case - its incredibly versatile and makes the ipad much easier to use.

Its a suede/microfiber kind of material which feels nice and soft and its not slippery at all.

You can stand it up, so you can watch movies with it on a desk that way, charge it standing up, give you a flat surface to lay on your stomach etc.

You can prop it up, which makes it much easier to type.

I also fold it in while gripping it most of the time anyway, as its easier to hold the wider surface with your whole hand instead of the flat pad with your fingertips.

Another trick is to wedge your hand between the case and the pad, basically holding the aluminum back of the pad while the case is still on - this gives you a nice tight one handed grip that works well for reading since your arm/wrist is supporting it, not your fingers.

I dont think I'd like the ipad half as much as I do without the case.

Thanks for the suggestions. Im not positive, but i dont think i want a case. they look so fugly, and the device alone is so damned sleek. i kinda wanna take off the case for my iphone too, but it travels more than the ipad ever would. maybe ill just buy something to transport it in, but even then i doubt id carry it around too often.

2 polar opposite reviews of the Apple case gotta love it lol. If this was Amazon I bet Kaido's review would be 1-2 stars and BD2003's would be 4-5

Don't get me wrong - it looks semi-nice and actually feels decent in your hands, but it's not worth $30 to me. The biggest downfall is that there's no front latch, so the front keeps falling open because there's no magnet or latch or anything holding it together. And there's also no flush latch/magnet on the rear, so when you hold it, it doesn't stay in place either. So that's kind of annoying. The edges are also kind of irritating, and because the edge sticks out and the holes to access the buttons are small, it's kind of annoying to adjust the volume or lock the orientation because you have to dig past the material to press the buttons. It really just feels like an afterthought, you know? Like gee, we should put a case out there - these people will buy anything with an Apple logo on it 😀

You'll at least want a sleeve to protect it while traveling, so it doesn't get scratched. I would say, a case is almost a required accessory though. It does tend to get a bit slippery (slick metal backing on skin), and it also gets heavy over time (1.5 pounds of aluminum & glass being held up gets heavier over time), so having a nice case with a stand is almost mandatory. Even the Apple case is better than nothing, but there are a lot of options for waaaaay cheaper that are better. One thing I do like a lot about the Apple case is that it props it up at an angle, which is really nice if you're laying in bed or on the floor or something playing a game or reading.

I have one and really enjoy using it.

Its like from the future....

We just buried our grandmother with one. Requested in her will. Guess you can take it with you... All I know is I won't be inheriting it....now : (

And what's really weird... she's still buying iBooks. We've seen the iTunes receipt.

Its weird though, I dont disagree with what he says. It can and does tip when youre standing up...it's not as stable as I'd like. The buttons are harder to get to, and it really bothers me the way the edges stick out. I dont have a problem with it staying closed, but I only carry it around the house.

It really the latch part of it that makes it good, the actual casing itself is a bit meh. There's a ton of room for improvement here, and it is a bit expensive, but overall I think it adds to the experience more than it detracts. It doesnt look as nice as the vanilla panel, but its very useful.
