Where are the police? That crowd of 30 people could easily get out of hand.

Washington Examiner reporter Charlie Spiering swung by todays Stop the NRA March in our nations capitol to check out the scene. What he came across wasn’t so much of a march as it was a sad gathering of a few dozen people.

The event was hosted by Public Campaign, Occupy the NRA, CREDO, Every Child Matters, Moveon, United For Change, USA, New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, The Other 98%, and We Act Radio. According to their press release, ‘The goal is to drag the lobbyists out of the shadows where they prefer to operate and expose exactly how the National Rifle Association subverts democracy.’

A generous estimation of the crowd was said to be around 100 people at the most, and that included members of the media and security.

Funny how I cannot find any reference to this supposed march on any site other than gun forums and right-wing propaganda outlets. One could argue that anti-gun sites wouldn't want to mention if they had poor turnout, but there should be pages discussing it before the event.

Smells like the typical load of BS.

If anything, the Boston attack tells us we need assault weapons in our homes.

Yep, shooting at bombs prevents them from exploding.

What we really need to do is tax fat people just for being ugly. I'm sick of meeting people from okcupid or plenty of fish and they turn out to be 50 pounds heavier than advertised.

Sorry, you're wrong.
Demonstrators protesting the US Senate's inaction on gun violence gathered in Washington's McPherson Park on Thursday before marching to the front doors of five lobbying firms that have worked on behalf of the National Rifle Association. The payments those firms received from the NRA in 2012 were displayed on giant novelty checks that demonstrators held up for photo-ops in front of police officers guarding the entrances.

That wasn't the original plan, exactly. The protest's organizers, which included Occupy the NRA, Public Campaign, and CREDO*, had intended to drive a hearse full of caskets to the firms back on April 16. That was the day before the Senate rejected the watered-down background check compromise bill brokered by Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.). It was also the day after the Boston bombing, after which the organizers decided to postpone the march and tone down the imagery.

They didn't tone it down entirely. Aaron Black, an Occupy the NRA organizer .........

At what point do we do the politically correct move and point out that all the marchers are pasty-white people?

...or...

white people are the ones who love God and love guns and form TEA Parties... I think this is a setup gag event put on by hick NRA supporters!!! I win!!!

Okay, so a couple of kids held a poorly-organized and poorly-attended rally.

I'm sure that really negates all the polls showing that the NRA is now opposing legislation supported by majorities of Americans, including majorities of gun owners.

Their PR clearly sucks as this is the first time I'd ever heard this was gonna happen. You can't have a protest if no one knows you're gonna have a protest.

Negate? No. Provide yet another piece of evidence that most don't give enough of a shit to act on it? Yes.

Some pretty big names in there. A complete bust.

Now compare this to the NRAs membership numbers the past few months as they set records every week.

Face it, the people that want to preserve gun rights are simply MUCH more highly motivated to do something than the anti-gunners.

I like the threat - "Next step is to unleash the power of the 99%!" Good luck with that.

They succeeded in having a march, not so much in the whole "stopping the NRA" part.

Well no one is as fanatically insane as NRA members. People who go to Star Trek conventions, dress up in costumes, and have themed weddings ordained completely in Klingon aren't even a tenth as fanatic and crazy as NRA members.

What a bunch of fucking idiots. These people ought to be ashamed of themselves for trying to stop the NRA and the 2nd Amendment.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A citizen with a gun stopped a knife wielding man as he began stabbing people Thursday evening at the downtown Salt Lake City Smith's store.

Police say the suspect purchased a knife inside the store and then turned it into a weapon. Smith's employee Dorothy Espinoza says, "He pulled it out and stood outside the Smiths in the foyer. And just started stabbing people and yelling you killed my people. You killed my people."

Espinoza says, the knife wielding man seriously injured two people. "There is blood all over. One got stabbed in the stomach and got stabbed in the head and held his hands and got stabbed all over the arms."

Then, before the suspect could find another victim - a citizen with a gun stopped the madness. "A guy pulled gun on him and told him to drop his weapon or he would shoot him. So, he dropped his weapon and the people from Smith's grabbed him."

By the time officers arrived the suspect had been subdued by employees and shoppers. Police had high praise for gun carrying man who ended the hysteria. Lt. Brian Purvis said, "This was a volatile situation that could have gotten worse. We can only assume from what we saw it could have gotten worse. He was definitely in the right place at the right time."

Dozens of other shoppers, who too could have become victims, are also thankful for the gun carrying man. And many, like Danylle Julian, are still in shock from the experience. "Scary actually. Really scary. Five minutes before I walk out to my car. It could have been me."

Police say right now they have no idea what caused the suspect to go on the dangerous rampage. (We will update as soon as we learn new information.)

So far, police have not released the names of the suspect, the victims or the man who pulled the gun.

Wow! An evil gun owner stopped a guy wielding a knife that he JUST BOUGHT!! And he did it without going Rambo and filling him with lead from his 100000000 round mag!

Speaking of the NRA - you can still get a lifetime membership for 300 bucks, no sponsor needed. Great deal and supports a great organization. Second Amendment Foundation is also very good and responsible for many of the landmark supreme court cases ensuring the 2nd amendment as a fundamental incorporated right.
