The country music singer that's sold more than 25 million albums this century sells some more music next week, with the release of the Toby Keith 6-Pack for Rock Band.

Six of Keith's tunes will be available for purchase on April 7th and April 9th for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 respectively. The lineup includes "Should've Been A Cowboy" from his 1993 self-titled album, "How Do You Like Me Now" from his 1999 album of the same name, "Beer For My Horses" and "Who's Your Daddy" from 2002's Unleashed, "I Love This Bar" from Shock n' Y'all, and "She's a Hottie" from Keith's 2008 album 35 Biggest Hits. The songs will be available for $1.99 a piece, or $9.99 for the whole pack.

While I am not a country music fan by any definition, "Beer for my Horses" somehow weasels its way onto every MP3 player I purchase, to the point where I know the opening five seconds by heart. There's a magic in those five seconds.

i have been waiting for this. huge toby keith fan. woo.. song selection is pretty good too.

I love Country, but only luke warm on TK.. Tracklist doesnt look too bad, I really like "Beer for my Horses" and "I Love This Bar". Im a little dissapointed "Weed with WIllie" didn't make it though 😉

I may have to dust off the old plastic instruments and grab it out of principal. We had alot of fun with the last Country pack.

Horrible music but I'm glad the fans of this stuff get their fair shot at DLC too.

That's a nice thing to say. I was probably going to make some jackass comment, insulting whole swaths of country music fans, but instead I'll just ++ to what this guy said.

I'm not interested in Toby Keith, but some Journey and Pat Benatar is coming out tomorrow so I can't complain. 🙂

You aren't forced to buy it. FUCK you.

That said I can't stand country, but I can't ignore the fact that it's huge for certain people. It'll get some money that's for sure.

Country rock
The late 1960s in American music produced a unique blend as a result of traditionalist backlash within separate genres. In the aftermath of the British Invasion, many desired a return to the "old values" of rock n' roll. At the same time there was a lack of enthusiasm in the country sector for Nashville-produced music. What resulted was a crossbred genre known as Country rock.

Early innovators in this new style of music in the 60s and 70s included rock n' roll icon band The Byrds (beginning while Gram Parsons was a member) and its spin-off The Flying Burrito Brothers, guitarist Clarence White, Michael Nesmith & The First National Band, Commander Cody, The Allman Brothers, The Marshall Tucker Band, Poco, Buffalo Springfield, and The Eagles among many. Even The Rolling Stones got into the act with songs like "beloved patriot Tonk Women" which resulted in many others recording country rock type songs including Neil Young and the Grateful Dead.

Subsequent to the initial blending of the two polar opposite genres, other offspring soon resulted, including Southern rock, Heartland rock and in more recent years, Alternative country.

In the decades that followed, artists such as Juice Newton, Alabama, Hank Williams, Jr., Keith Urban, Shania Twain, Brooks & Dunn, Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, Dwight Yoakam, Steve Earle, Dolly Parton, Rosanne Cash and Linda Ronstadt moved country further towards rock influence.

Rock music is a loosely defined genre of popular music that entered the mainstream in the mid 1950s. It has its roots in 1940s and 1950s rhythm and blues, country music and other influences. In addition, rock music drew on a number of other musical influences, including folk music, jazz, and classical music.

wooohoo, i love Toby Keith and these are all good songs 🙂
I'm all for more country music in Rock Band... not suggesting they stop all the other stuff and shift a focus to country, but i'm really happy to see country music getting into the mix. I love all types of music (except Rap) including country. The last country pack they put in was pretty fun to play and I expect the TK pack to be a lot of fun.

Now if only they could get Garth Brooks to sign on... but I know he is among those artists who don't like the whole digital distribution thing. But hell, Metallica and the Beetles have signed on so why not Garth? 🙂

Can't stand country music, but like the others, it's good to see them broadening the genres. I guess that small country pack they had a few months ago was a test.

Oh sweet, now my wife will let me play more Rock Band and Guitar Hero games!

If Keith Urban or Braid Paisley ever come out.... she'll rip the f'n guitar out of my hands.

Just queued up "Don't Stop Believin" so it will download the next time I turn my 360 on.

Toby Keith... yea, I'll pass on that.

I'd like to see U2 and Tom Petty.

Uh oh...... dunno if I should spill the beans to her or not now.

Either this works out well for me or she's always gonna want to play wise and beautiful woman-Ree music and I won't get my daily metal in.

Country isnt my fav by far, but its a lot better than that crap you cant understand. Where they just scream and growl. Sound like a bunch of idiots. Thats not even rock.

But nonetheless, I'm allowed to have an opinion on the matter, and my opinion is that they might as well make a NASCAR DLC car pack for Forza 2 and Six-Shooters and Horses for Halo 3.

It's just out of place. I would support a separate disc loaded with country tracks, country venues, and country clothes... but as it stands it just seems out of character to me.

More power to you if you're excited for it, but unlike you, my intention wasn't to be a dick about it or bash country music.

No thanks, i can't stand that crap but i'm sure they are others who like it.I just want more awesome bands from the 80's and 70s.It's kind of funny when someone tells other person f**k you because they hate that garbage, it's call an opinion everyone is entitled to one.

hahahah Beer for my horses? lol I'm gonna buy it just for the name.

That's kind of a funny answer considering the story behind the song... I heard this in an interview with Toby Keith one time when he had first written the song and he talked to Willie Nelson about doing it. He wrote the song with Willie in mind, and when he brought it up with Willie Nelson he told him the title before he even played any of it. Willie Nelson said with a title like that, count him in... didn't even need to hear the song.

lol.

There's a difference between an opinion and downright rude.

Maybe I'll have to buy RB now. Love country. Didn't think they would put out music like this for games of this nature. Cool to see.
