To Zune owners...

Just an FYI to any Zune owners out there.

I had a busted headphone jack on my Zune HD 32gig, but it still worked. When MS decided to cancel selling Zunes, I decided to open up a repair ticket @ Zune.net.

Instead of having mine sent in for repair, I had the option of the various different Zunes for a replacement unit. It did cost me $149.00 though for the ZuneHD 32. It was worth it to me since I love my Zune Pass.

Are you saying that your original zune cost you $149 and you received a new one for free as part of the repair ticket, or that microsoft charged you $149 for a replacement?

So basically you just bought another zune. Is that a significant discount off the original retail price? Would an out of warranty repair have costed the same thing? I'm not seeing how this is that great a deal.

It is cheaper than when I originally bought mine, and mine was out of warranty...not like this would have qualified though. Not sure what the cost is from like someone on ebay. So far, I haven't seen them on sale any longer at any major retailers. I do get to keep my semi-broken Zune though....so I guess it'll be good for parts later down the road.

i use mine all the time (zHD 16gb) but i actually paid a lot for it. got it when they first came out, i think it was like 189 or something.

What information did you need to provide? Could any Joe Schmoe complain about a problem their having and get an HD 32gig for $150?

I think you need to have a registered Zune on file with Microsoft. I can't remember exactly, but they had most of the zunes available from a zune 4gb to the Zune HD's and some of the disk based ones. I don't remember seeing the Zune 120 or a Zune HD 64gb.

All I did was request repair, and filled in description of a broken headphone jack.

Heh. Mine has been sitting in a drawer collecting dust for nearly 2 years now. Never use it now that I got my music/pictures/movies on my smartphone.

I'm waiting for a win7 phone I actually want to buy, especially keeping an eye on the Nokias that are coming out. I wonder if MS will ever open up Zune Pass for every device?
