Same here.

Though usually I stick with much lower volumes, and usually not light beer. Well, usually not lagers for that matter. Belgian quads FTW!

EDIT: 27 years old, used to be a heavy drinker, around 270 pounds. (and slowly dropping)

Genetics plays a factor too. Asians tend to have a lower tolerance for alcohol.

One of my Asian friends is an exception to that rule. He had something like 28 drinks on his 21 run. That was after the previous night where he had about 17 and was hungover as hell all day before his 21 run.

Somehow he's built up an allergic reaction to booze though. In the past few months, every time he drinks (even like four drinks) he ends up puking for 4-6 straight hours.

You drinking lites also?
Rock On.

I can easily put away a lot of beer and/or hard stuff (mainly Crown, Jim Beam, or Jack Daniels), but after realizing what it has/will do to me I generally refrain from drinking. Just a few months ago I could/would put down 18-24 Miller Lites/Bud Lights and 1/2-1 a fifth of Crown. 🙁

My health was bad, I was gaining weight, my marriage was struggling, and I was wasting money. Now I have more energy every day, the woman and I are getting along great, and my investments/savings are through the roof. Not many 25 year olds can say they are investing/saving 43-45% of their income, own their own home, or live the way I do. I had been spending anywhere from $300-$500 per week on liquor.

Figure $30-45 per night 3-4x/wk for liquor at home and up to $100 per night on nights I went out. The expense itself was not all my consumption as the wife drinks as well, but my cutting back greatly reduced our cost. We've only been out to the bars twice since December whereas we had been going our 4-5 times per week.

I've never been drinking to the point of being completely trashed since I was in high school and/or early college. These days it seems I can go on and on and on and on, and while still getting very very drunk, never getting to the point where I have trouble standing etc.

I also rarely have hangovers these days if I drink my old favourites, I must be used to them now, but random one-offs and sh!t-mixes give me hell the next day.

Interestingly, my local pub invented a pint drink for me that contains Strongbow, Fosters & Blackcurrant (Sass), Red & Green Aftershock, Apple Sours, Black Sambucca, Stolichnaya, Bacardi and a lot of other junk. Naturally, I get really wasted when I have two or three of those, and I pay for it like Hell the next day.

So, in my opnion, it's all about practise. If you drink one drink all the time, eventually it'll be like drinking water that gets you giddy. In my case this is vodka, and not many challenge me to vodka drinking contests anymore since I can only get my regular legally served if it's in two glasses. 😉

Age, weight, genetics, experience... when I was in college I held my liquor like a little girl 😱 One time I booted after a 6pack 😱😱😱 Now I can down a bottle or more if I'm not paying attention.

It's like asking how someone can bench press 250. Practice. Lots of practice. Not that I would encourage anyone to practice this kind of activity...

As an avid drinker and borderline alcoholic, I can only say that "practice makes hurl-proof." Though your insides will deteriorate a lot faster.

Just gotta build a tolerance. But you also have to enjoy the buzz and not let things give you a buzz kill, for it will surely end up in you harfing or having a hang-over.

Best advise to not becoming a harfasophalous (dictionary term for harf monster)... is to ease into a life of drinking via "drinking to your enjoyable limit and then adapting to your tolerance by drinking more to get to your enjoyable limit."

That's just me, though. I can go 25 shots in a 4 hour period and still not feel bad the next day. My personal secret is calcium carbonate (aka: Tums) and brushing your teeth before you pass out (which is not always possible since you are drunk).

PS. I am drunk right now and I like it....and I weigh 230lbs @ 6'2" (vertically).

Nope, but 8-10 doubles of Crown plus her drinks add up real fast.

Just on buying Mich Ultra, I spend $300 per month at grocery store prices. About 12 per day, everyday....sometimes 24 on a weekend day.

My rent was only $625 so I had a ton of extra cash, plus I got injured back in July/August last year and could not exercise at all. It became a habit. I bought a house so I am cutting back both for economy and my health. I had about 18 this past week total.
