To wide screen or not.

Over here in blighty Dell is having a monitor sale.

Now the problem comes is that the 2001 and 2005 are both the same price and I can't decide which one is better suited for me.

I do a reasonable amount of gaming, photo editing (home use only) and have plans for video in the not too distant future.

I also want to move to dual monitor in the future, not right now, as I really miss my dual setup that I had a few years ago.

Anyway, I never knew UK Dell did special deals? Ill have to check that out.

Personally, I like the 4:3 aspect of my LCD. I also like the aspect ratio of my CRT.

I dont really feel as though Widescreen fits a desktop PC all that well.

Its up to you really.

Check the games you play, go to the Widescreengamingorum and see if they will work OK with it.

For photo editing with photoshop widescreen tends to be better, you can fit the tool bars on the side better with lots of room in the middle for the pic. Video editing is a toss up, I have no experience there so I don't know.

Gaming is also a toss-up, nothing beats a widescreen game in terms of it's looks and ease on the eyes, but only the main games support widescreen and not even all of them. There are hacks for most games but I have had issues getting alot of them to work so I play the games with black bars on the side or stretched to fit the screen.

To me widescreen was worth it, though I still dual screen with my 2005fpw and a 21" crt 4:3 ratio so I use both frequently.

I don't think you can really go wrong with either... unless you plan to do a fair bit of DVD watching. Then the 2005 is the clear winner as DVD's look awesome on it, especially with the reduced or non existant (depending on the movie) top and bottom black bars

2005FPW. I put my money where my mouth is... The 2001FP was the same price as well when when I bought my 2005FPW. The 2005FPW is awesome. I've never liked another monitor more.

Thanks for the input.

I think after looking at the game list widescreen will be fine for me.
