I have done a few builds but I am no means an expert or even truly experienced. I am curious if anyone else has ever had anything like this occur. Just ordered parts for my new rig this weekend and they all showed up today right as I was headed to work. The boxes all looked to be in satisfactory condition FedEx once again managed to get them here in one piece. However, when I got home tonight and started unpacking stuff I noticed that the clear plastic window on my AMD 64 3500+ looked like it had a bunch of green junk on it on the inside. I looked the box over really well and it was in good condition. The factory holographic seals were intact. I cut one open and carefully slid out the contents and a handful of green stryrofoam junk. It seems the envirofriendly paper foam had been crushed in one corner by the heatsink and fan. I carefully wiped and blew the debris from the heatsink and made sure that none had managed to lodge in the thermal compound. I checked the processor over and it has no bent pins and looks pristine. So do I go ahead and build and see if everything fires up or call/email ZipZoomFly and get an RMA. It may sound anal, but I don't want to start with something that somehow got rattled enough it broke its own packing material. I have ordered from ZZF before with no problems this is a first. Help me out guys has anyone ever experienced anything like this? BTW I was really surprised at the packing material even where it was in good shape it seemed flimsy. I am all about doing right by mother earth but I think I would have settled for them packing it in ziplocks and jello over this stuff.

Thanks in advance for any input.

My AMD 64 3200+ came that way too from outpost.com. Cleaned everything with a can of compressed air. Works just fine. It might just be that the biodegradable packing started degrading a bit too soon.

Thanks guys feeling a little less like I got kicked in the roundtables all ready! That packing is really kind of googy stuff.

I am fighting with ZZF because this is happening to me and I find it unacceptable. The AMD box is beat up a bit, the corner of the box crushed, a crack in the top of the box, theat green stuff all over the inside of the box - it's a mess.

They're telling me this will take a month or two to get settled.

Let me tell you - for $300 - I WILL NOT accept this and VISA is just a call away.

I can't believe ZZF is taking that stance. However, if Outpost is also experiencing this maybe it is time to take things up with AMD customer service.
