To upgrade, Or not to upgrade...

First of all, Im a college student with a very limited budget. So heres what im thinking about doing.

Right now I have:
A7N8X Deluxe Rev1.4
Athlon XP 2700+

And replacing it with:
EPOX nForce3 250
Athlon64 3000+ 754

After selling my old parts. the total cost of the upgrade would be about $100.

Worth doing?

Sugestions and opinions please.

Yeah sure... the cost/benefit ratio, especially with selling your old stuff, works out pretty well.

hmmm...just from that..sounds like it might be worth it.

Do have performance problems? or just felt like you could use an upgrade?

it's worth it.. i'm spending ~600 CAD for going from a 2.4p4 to an amd64 3000+ platform. (new vid card, etc)

I don't think you'll notice any improvement but for $100.00 it's not a bad deal to go from 32 to 64 bit and a slightly fast CPU and SATA.

Since you've upgraded your graphics card in the last 3 minutes 😉 it will definitely help.

The gf4 wouldn't have gotten any faster but the 6600GT can use the >30% extra CPU power (in games).

good deal,
not a HUGE jump in performance tho

personally, it would too much work for me to sell old parts, get new parts, install it, get new drivers, blah blah..

It's not too difficult...this coming from a person who upgrades more then I should.
