Hi guys:
Many of us who got in on the Staples 11/23 deal realized ( and posted) a problem. Both the CDR's and the Tracfone needed an original receipt.
I just came back from Staples today after going there to see if I can do something about the problem. The girl at customer service said she can take back those two items and credit me back the charge and then have me rebuy it again at the sale price of Friday(11/23). She was only concerned because the receipt would still say today's date on it(11/25)-not Friday's date and wondered if the rebate would still be good. We looked at both rebate forms and we have plenty of time for it so all you guys go back to your Staples, explain the problem and then return and rebuy them like I did. I hope this was helpful to you all.

Only one receipt--that's strange. The staples I was at gave me (and everyone else) multiple receipts at the time of purchase to avoid this problem.

why not ask them to print out a copy of the receipt for you. They can do it. Its on their system. I think i read somewhere in the rebate center of staples that if you lost your receipt, they can print it back at the store. (you need the time and may be CC #)

edit: from the FAQ of staples's rebate center
1. Help, I lost my receipt! How can I get my rebate?
Not to worry. We've come a long way from the days of handwritten receipts and carbon copies! Most stores can reprint your receipt, especially if you paid with a credit card and know the exact date of your purchase.

I just returned my tracfone and made $20.

The girl didnt want to take it back. She even got a manager
to talk to me about the phone. I told him that the required 90
day continuous activation sounds a lot like a contract. The box
mentions "No contracts". After I finally convinced the manager.
She credited me $50 even though I only spent $30. The girl
was a really crabby biyatch. I asked her "$50, can you check
the receipt, are you sure that is right?" She started to get
angry and said "yes its correct!" in a mean tone. I said, "Ok,
I hope you are right." I would have told her if she wasnt so
mean and rude, that I only paid $30.

Funny, I got more duplicate receipts than items...5 items, 8 receipts :)

I returned the Tracfone because of the terms of the rebate - 18 weeks (4 1/2 months) for a rebate - f* that. And 90 days continuous activation required. I won' ever use a cellular phone and would have put it on Ebay if it wasn't for that activation requirement.

Like Riznick, they gave me $50 back instead of $30...manager OKed the transaction. I guess it's an early Christmas present from Staples :)

just go back to the staples you went to and ask them for the rebate form-they should either have plenty of them or they should be able to tell you where to download them.

On the cell phone issue-I think it is a good deal. In order to get a rebate all you need to do is stay a customer for 90. You can get 20 minutes free-the first 10 for activating and the second 10 for giving them your email address (to remind oyuwhe the due date is approaching) -that gives you 60 days already free. The you buy another 10 minutes for about 8$ and you have your three months. I think that's a good deal 8$ for three months of piece of mind of knowing someone can reach you in emergencies and that you can reach them. I think it is a good deal.
As far as waiting 150 days for a rebate-you know-I've waited a lot more for some !@#$% COMPUSA rebate to come. I can wait for this one as well.

all they need is the transaction number which is on the reciept you have and they can print out another one

I work for staples and I was at the register for the 23rd and they told us to print extra reciepts for everyone who had rebate items

I have some Tracfones, they work fine, and the service I have is through Verizon Wireless.

After you activate, go to the tracfone website and sign up for 10 additional free minutes.

Radio Shack B&M had some Motorola Startac (not the Nokia flip phones) Tracfones on sale for $50, with $30 rebates. I bought 2, but they may not have them at all stores, or may be sold out.

AT hot deals alerted me to the Amazon.com $50 off $100 which I used for a pile of Tracfone cards. Sold out now. :(

Hi,

I went to Staples and was told that if I did not get the rebate by mail
for the CDR's, I would get the rebate from Staples store!

As for the Tracfone, I have one and it is more problems then it is worth!
You can never get through to the company to put time on the phone and if
there is a brake in service, you will not get the rebate! It happened to me. After bitching, they gave me 30 hours of time.

There are two problems I encountered for the Staples CDR and RAM rebates.

1. For the CDR rebate, I found that there is no phone # to track on your rebate. To verify, I called the staples rebate center. All they told me it is a MIR, so they are not responsible for it. I asked for the manufacture's phone #, and they told me they don't know. Basically, I made like ten calls to many staples departments a and could not find the number. Since the rebate ask for the original recipit, which makes it hard for refund, and it would not give you a # to track on the rebate, I think this is a scam. Because from my experience, if there is no information for me to back-tracking the rebates, my chance of getting the rebates are low.

2. For the RAM rebate, As far as my understanding to the front page of the advertisment, the RAM is free after rebate. But as soon as I read the fine print of the rebate form, I found that one needs to buy CDRW or HD in addition to get the rebate. I went back to the store and asked for the proper rebate, because I notice there is more than one rebates for that memory. The manager did not help me and he was a very mean. I returned the RAM right on the spot. So did you guys got right rebate form or is it just my misunderstanding?

<< First of all here's a link to the RAM rebate:
http://www.staplesrebates.com/weblogic/rebateshq/staples/viewPromotionDetails?bundleId=244137&promoCd=01-44783

Second, the rebate says for the PC100 it's free, for the PC133 you need to purchase that with any CDRW over $110 or Maxtor hard drive over $100. It's states that on the ad too.

Strange thing thru, it doesn't ask for a UPC, that's a first...
>>

FYI - This is NOT the Staples rebate for the 128MB in-store $20.00 offer from 11/23. You reading the sentence incorrectly. The linked offer clearly states that you must purchase either a PC100 or PC133 128MB DIMM AND a CD-RW Drive

.$20 Rebate with the purchase of a (PNY 128MB SDRAM PC100 or PC133 DIMM) , AND (ANY CDRW Drive or Maxtor Hard Drive)

I have the rebate form from the PNY 128MB 11/23 in-store offer and it is a totally different dept number than the one linked above. The 128MB rebate (and several others) are not available online. According to the Staples rebate center this was done intentionally since thesewere limited time in-store offers. If you did not get a rebate form then you need to go back to the Staples where you pruchased the memory and get the tearpad rebate form there. If they do not have it you are SOL

Smitty094 - the link should work if you copy the URL into the address bar.

The link also works if you right click and 'save as target'. I believe Geocities is no longer allowing direct linking or something similar to pics.
