I find it honorable, but if you think it's funny to make fun of me because I'd rather help my mother with the house payment, that's fine with me I guess. I don't know about your childhood, but my mother busted her fvcking ass trying to raise me. I owe her a lot, and not just monitarily. Make fun of that all you want. I know I'm the better man.

I'll actually be doing the same thing next month. My mother busted her ass to make ends meet while my dad fvcked around. She divorced him 6 years ago and he has made 5 child-support payments since. My mom has since lost her house, had to move my 5 little brothers and sisters from the only town the ever had to live in to salt lake city, and had to file for bankruptcy. She's still having a helluva time making ends meet, and is trying to go back to school so she can get a better job. My wife and I will be moving in as soon as our house sells so we can help her out with the burden of raising my siblings on her own while working 80+ hours a week. It's the least I can do. We'll be paying rent to her, splitting the utilities and helping with the kids. Also will allow us to save money and become completely debt free.

Yup. My mother used to feed herself, me, three dogs and two cats a single bag of popcorn each night for months when things got tough. Without going into much detail, my worthless fvck of a father wasn't around and didn't make one single payment while she struggled to make it.

There simply aren't enough good-hearted people like you, Beau, left in the world anymore.

I think it's funny that this thread became so heated over what 2 or 3 people said in a completely different thread. 🙂

We had a lot of pets as kids, too. We got them when times were good, and they became part of the family. You don't just dump family when times get tough. Pets actually really help with stressful times, as they're one thing that will show you love and affection no matter how bad you've fvcked up.

C'mon....you trying to tell us things were that bad and you couldn't get some sort of state or federal assistance? I'm not buying the "We ate on a single bag of popcorn" argument....there are plenty of programs out there to help people in that situation.

And its not like I save any money....paying almost all the rent + car payments + insurance payments + loan payments = me broke

Of course she would rather live with you. Aren't you delaying the inevitable, though? At some point both of you will be living on your own. Like I said, sometimes "cutting the cord" is in the best interests of both parent and child.

if i moved out and my mom lost the financial help she gets from me, my mom would have to take up 2 jobs to make all the bills. if i move out, no way in hell can i pay my own rent AND help my mom out financially. I dont particularly want to live at home...but i dont have any other choice

What a loser. A true ninja would never live with his mom b/c behind pirates, vikings, and babysitters, moms are the #4 enemy of a ninja!

Not back in the 80's there weren't. And living $5 above what the state required for assistance gets you nothing at all. Whether you believe it or not does not stop it from having happened.

I didn't realize she was financially dependent on you. Well, congratulations on being mature enough to sacrifice your independence to help your mom out. Best of luck to both of you.🙂

Not a loaded question - how does your wife feel about everything ? And did she have dreams of having her "own life" with you ?

I'm sure she did. But if she's any kind of woman who's worth a damn, she'll realize that a little sacrifice goes a long way.

BS! There were plenty of programs in the 80's. I had friends in junior high and high school(I graduated in 88) who were on assistance and came from families on the margin income wise.

Maybe you had it bad, but don't try and make it sound like starvation was knocking at your door every day. There were and are ways for people in that situation to get help. Let's assume you couldn't get state/federal aid. Nothing was stopping you from going to private charities, churches, etc, etc, etc....

You make your life sound like what my grandma actually lived through during the Great Depression. Hell she nearly died from Polio and starvation during that time and she whines less than you do.

Actually, she's in total support of it, and is actually very excited for it.. 🙂 She understands the we're still very young and have plenty of time to have our "own life" together and she knows that family is the most important thing in life. We'll still have our privacy, etc.

So you live with your Mom.....BFD...really....but stop trying to make yourself sound like Mother Teresa for doing so.

C'mon....you trying to tell us things were that bad and you couldn't get some sort of state or federal assistance? I'm not buying the "We ate on a single bag of popcorn" argument....there are plenty of programs out there to help people in that situation.

Not back in the 80's there weren't. And living $5 above what the state required for assistance gets you nothing at all. Whether you believe it or not does not stop it from having happened.

1) go back in time
2) move to oregon
3) make $5 over the state's poverty level
4) be a single mom
5) ...
6) do NOT profit

Seriously, go fvck yourself. You think you know everything about everyone's life.

pot, meet kettle.
