i've even just asked God to at least listen to me and show me that he was and still...nothing

This is the third time you've said your life sucks. Why does it suck?

1. havent been in a sucessfull relationship for more than 3 years; no potential in the near future either
2. im hated by people ive never even spoken to which in turn makes other people hate me for no reason
3. my parents divoriced when i was 2; i dont even know what its like to have a family
4. my parents hate me compared to my sister, even though she has done about everything wrong (alcohol, drugs) and i never have
5. other random little day-to-day $hit

At some point you have to examine the evidence and come to a conclusion. Does your life suck, or do you?

i am among the nicest people i know. i havent said a truly mean thing in quite a long time. does that make me a bad person? should i do drugs? should i kill people? will that make my life better?
No, that does not make you a bad person, but feeling sorry for yourself does. As does apparently not having much of a sense of humor.

That depends on exactly how one interprets events to be answers.
I won't be able to say yes or no for a couple years. Something happened, and the timing was too poor/perfect.

To answer the question somewhat: I have no doubt our belief in something(s) alter reality.

lots of everyday things like getting to the gas station on an empty tank. you don't pray as a last resort you pray as a first resort before you try to do things.
That would be an interesting way of going about it.

I mean, I used to pray, or at least thank Him when something positive happened. I just don't look at it like that anymore, though.

It's not like my life has gotten any worse since I stopped believing that my life was in the Christian God's hands. Quite the contrary actually.

I am a scientist. I think logically. If you pray before an action, there is no way to tell whether it was the prayer or something else that netted the desired result. Then there's the whole issue of, what if it doesen't happen the way you want it to? It's easy to ignore all the "failed prayers" and praise all the "answered" ones.

Since I have been able to accomplish goals, stay out of danger, have money for the bills, etc, etc... for some time now without prayer, this leads me to believe that it is me and not the prayers that have brought me these things. I believe that your outside is a mirror of your inside, so to speak. You only give yourself what you think you're worth.

I'm young though, and open minded... so who knows how my views will change as I get older and experience more.

I'm sorry to say, though, that short of seeing God and talking to him, I don't know of anything that could convince me something like that exists. But that doesen't mean that I think something like that does not exist. It just means that I believe it doesen't matter.😉 I'm open to the idea. I don't believe a higher power would be anything like the Christian God, however.

If God exists, he has already setup everything on our planet to just.. work. People need to eat. Plants require water. Light travels at 299,792,458m/s. Engines require fuel to run. 😉 I believe that everything has an explination. That certainly doesen't mean that we know everything, though. For all we know, there is some yet to be discovered form of energy that kept your engine running even though the tank was empty. Granted, I'm a bit skeptical about that scenario, but whatever. Being close-minded has never done anybody any good. Admit it, though... don't you think it is much more likely that you simply weren't out of gas yet? 🙂

As for the birth defect thing, I hope that is true, because that is neat. Maybe God will fix my health problems. I'll humbly accept any miracles anybody out there in the universe is willing to dish out. 😉

Funny how you always only hear about them 3rd person, though.....................

I think I read somewhere in the Bible that "the prayers of a righteous man availeth much"
I just feel like I'm wasting my time since I am far from a righteous person. I'm not of criminal mind or anything of the sort... meh
i digress

my computer sucks. it looks good on paper, but it locks up ever hour and cant play any 3d game, no matter what the settings, without framerate issues.

You should create a post about this in the hardware forum. The two usual suspects with lockups are ram & power supply... do you lock up mostly/only in games? Do you have a cheap power supply?

On religion, suffice to say I can't believe how many of you are fooling yourselves. The rest has been gone over ad nauseum in countless other threads, no need to add another layer of varnish.

I'd say it's more likely to be either a software issue (drivers for the graphics card or motherboard) or perhaps a BIOS setting that the graphics card doesn't like.

The classic rule: Once software has been eliminated as a possible cause for the error, check the firmware. If that still does not fix the issue then check the hardware.

Seek after God then. Ask Him to make Himself known. I'll guess you have probably already done that though. Try it again with an open mind, not expecting anything. I've been looking for a verse lately but it may be all in my head.... I thought there was a bible verse that said something about putting God to the test and you wont be disapointed. but I have nothing to back that up with.

also Prayer isn't about asking for things, it's about talking with God. The bible says to call Him Abba, which translates, father or daddy. Prayer isn't about cause and effect. It's talking to God, I mean you talk to your dad on earth and sometimes you thank him, sometimes you ask him for something, and sometimes you just confide in him.
well when you do that with God, thats prayer.

In my experiences, yes. Could it be coincidence? I guess it could be, but I take it as more since it's happened many times on things that I found to be very crucial in my life. Obviously YMMV.

lol the ultimate hot deal but YMMV!

you might feel better if you spend some time helping out some sick people

My health has gone down the drain recently (23 yrs old) but I pray regularly thanking God for what I do have and for the life and love He's given me.

Yes.... long story short, I asked God to leave my life forever. After that, my life has never been easier.

except for all those boils you started growing on your back :disgust:

The Holy Ghost whispers to my heart. That is how my prayers are answered. It's almost like a still small voice inside yourself.

I have prayers answered all the time. 🙂 Sometimes the answer I get isn't the one I wanted, but....God ALWAYS answers.....whether it be yes, no, wait, not right now, in good time, etc....
🙂
