To those who don't drink alcohol, what is your reasoning?

I have never drank before until tonight. I'm 21 btw. I had a glass of some blue stuff, tasted like cough syrup without being mixed with some sprite. Thats all I had and I have no desire to taste beer. I did it just to get people to lay off of me because I did not drink.

i'm 23 and i drink maybe 2 or 3 times a month and i might have 1 or 2 bears each time. i don't get drunk ever, never will. it's partly an issue of control and also both parents are recovering alcoholics and and my sister still is. so i have very little desire to end up like them.

I have drunk before (more than I'd care to admit) and I'll have a drink when the mood strikes me, but it's not something I look to do.

I have more fun being sober...believe it or not. Also as someone else said, alcohol is an antidepressant so I don't need it.

Just to clarify, alcohol is a depressant, not an antidepressant. :Q to if it were an antidepressant though.

As far as I know, all that means is that it slows down your brain. I don't think it has anything to do with depression. Alcohol does make me depressed, but not everyone.

My dad drinks since I was little and dont like what it does to people, so I dont drink. Thats not to say I cant enjoy a beer or two with friends.

First off, it tastes nasty.

I had a sip of wine just a few days ago (just to give it another chance), but once again it reaffirmed my reason not to drink alcohol. It tasted nasty!

Secondly, I don't want to have to work my abs. I have enough junk to feed my body already. It would be unfair to put more burden on it. If I did that, I'm sure there would come a time where a walk or none wouldn't be enough to maintain nice abs.

Lastly, alcohol is usually contraindicative to healing.

i drink occasionally for the taste but i rarely drink so much that i start to feel the effect so that's probably not considered as really drinking... b/c i dont like the feeling of being intoxicated

Haha yeah it's not called a depressant cause it will make you depressed! It's called a depressant because it's a CNS depressant and it slows down the operation of the brain.

I have a shot of JD after dinner every day for medicinal purposes and I'll have one beer when out with friends (then switch to Pepsi), but I will not drink more than that because I want to be able to drive legally. Also, I get terrible hangovers and refuse to ever have another.

23 and I've never wanted to. I hear my half-brother and half-sister have alcohol problems and it may be genetic, but it has no bearing on my consumption.
