I never used the term on a regular basis since I first learned of it ages ago. However, I realize that it is considered offensive by some people, and I should not have used the slang term. The more I read into it, the slander became evident. I made an appropriate thread edit, and I apologize to you guys if you read it before hand. Thanks.

You don't have to read into it very far to see the slander.

While I wasn't really offended by it, I found it to be extremely inappropriate. There were a million other ways you could've said what you wanted without using that term. This forum is not a small town and we don't all know each other. I have seen a few of your posts, but I have no idea who you are. If you think everyone is going to find your use of that term humorous, then you're kidding yourself.

pulse8, your ramblings only make me wonder why I posted this thread. When I posted the term, it wasn't meant to be "humerous" or degrading in any way. As I clearly stated above, it was simply an error on my behalf. I made a sincere apology. There is NO need to dwell on the subject and try to run me into the ground. Unless you are one to never make a mistake, please do not throw stones.

I just don't see how someone mistakenly posts a remark like that. You had to have thought about it, typed it and then clicked the submit button. All the while not knowing what you were doing? I find that very hard to believe.

Glad I've known you long enough to know you didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings. Even more glad to see you do right by it, instead of flaming or attempting to defend it. I've seen too many idiots on AT, and elsewhere, who don't understand that the same words we may use casually among close friends who know us can be very hurtful in a public place as large as this.

The phrase "to Jew down" is indeed offensive to many. But the intent of the speaker means ever so much more than any words.
 
Myself and most of my (no longer) school mates in high school used that term all the time. It was not meant as a derogitory term, it was used as an adj. Since I left HS and came out here to the real world, I do my best not to use terms such as those.

It takes guts admitting that John. I (for one) can see how that mistake could be made. Pulse8 can not. I guess it depends on where and how you were raised. ( no, my parents never used such language, it was all my "friends" ) It kind of rubs off.

Not intended as a slam to either of you, just more of an explanation for Pulse8.

I guess I'm just the type of person that feels that what's said among your friends is not always something that can be said on the forums.

He realized that and that's fine.

I apologize if I was a "putz," as WombatWoman so nicely put it. I was just really bothered because when I displayed my distaste for the comment in PM, I was immediately attacked for it.

I guess I saw it the same as using the terms "great person" or "beloved patriot." Terms that also have no place in this forum because you don't know who's reading it.

Like I said, I wasn't offended by the comment itself, I was offended by John's lack of respect for using it.

I apologize for continuing with the argument, but I didn't feel that John's apology was really sincere.
