I dont really like vulgar, sexual innuedno filled humor.... (which i believe this started with Roseann... which i sorta liked, but got bored with at the end.)

Shows automatically disqualified:

Seinfield
Everyone loves raymond
Family Guy
Simpsons
Married with Children

I prefer TV form a different age...
Matlock
McGuyver
Perfect Strangers
Family Matters
Major Dad
All in the Family
Sanford & Son
MASH
3 Stooges
The Jeffersons

Possibly the only show of today I like is Law & Order, which is coming rapidly to an end.

Soooo, you don't like things that are funny?

FWIW, there was a ton of "vulgar, sexual innuendo filled humor" on MASH, even more on Sanford and Son (I remember references to the fact that, curiously, Fred and his son would go together to watch "skin flicks") and quite a fair bit on The Jeffersons and All in the Family.

Humor does not have to be vulgar to be funny.
There were sexual overtones in some of those show... but they were not as prevalently raunchy as today.

So what do you call George Jefferson uttering "whitey," "zebra," or "beloved patriot" in every episode?

I like Seinfield a lot, but I don't think it's "unfathomable" why lots of people wouldn't think it was funny.

First of all, Seinfield is very generational humor. You either have to be part of or understand the generation that Seinfield and cast are part of, to get a lot of the humor, which is mostly about their self-absorption, and their expectation that the world revolves around them, and what happens when it turns out not to.

And even though more and more people live the kind of single lifestyle they live, the fact is that most people their age live in family groups, and therefore don't directly identify with some of the situations the cast gets into.

And because of this admiration, you feel nothing but contempt for those who can't stand it?

I don't recall using the word "contempt." I said I don't really respect anyone who actively dislikes Seinfeld. That was probably a poor choice of words - what I meant is that I don't think I could really get along with such a person.

Seinfeld is the smartest, funniest live-action sitcom ever broadcast in the United States IMO (the other shows that I see as being of a similar caliber are the UK Office and Fawlty Towers, though the brief Police Squad! series might qualify as well), and I have a hard time understanding how anyone with a fully-developed sense of humor could fail to appreciate it. That doesn't necessarily make them bad people, just people I have a very hard time relating to. I guess I'd say the same thing about someone who disliked The Sopranos, the movie Adaptation, and some other works of art. It just suggests I have little common ground with them.

It's not so much a sense of humor they lack. To be able to find Seinfeld funny, you need to be able to associate with the characters. That means being an introspective and critical person yourself. Many people don't spend a great deal of their time in self-analysis so the literal manifestations of abstract concepts are just what they say they think they are....forced and blunt.

So, ya, the Seinfeld test can probably tell you a lot about a person or culture.

Seinfeld was OK, I didn't dislike or particularly enjoy the show. Jerry's standup was pretty good though.

Some of my favorites, Upright Citizens Brigade, Red vs Blue, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Colbert Report, That show with the Brittish guy that had all the skits that they did impromptu, Also that same show when they Americanized it and made Drew Carry the host, Army of Darkness, Young Frankenstein, Stripes, Spaceballs, Blazing Saddles, Dane Cook, Brian Regan, Dave Attel, The Daily Show, South Park, BBspot.

I really enjoy good satrical comedy the mest probebly, but I am open to a lot of it.

"Whose Line Is It Anyway"

I never liked Seinfeld because they used a lot of words.

My favorite TV comedy of all time is "Hogan's Jewish Sympathizer Swine", the original German comedy on which "Hogan's Heroes" was based.

Instead of Stalag 17, it takes place in a subterranean SS torture cell in Birkenau prison. You never saw blood and leather combined to such comedic effect!

Like with Seinfeld, though, I thought their last episode, "The Final Solution", was kind of weak. Too many oven jokes.

Yea!!!!!

"The sea was angry that day, my friends . . . like an old man sending back soup in a deli."

^^^^ From the same episode that has the classic line:

"Is anyone here a marine biologist?"

I didn't dislike Seinfeld... but I always thought it was super overrated.

Arrested Development was probably the greatest sitcom of the past 15 years or so

I pick racism and violence over public sexuality any day.

Also Disqualified is the man show.
