It's widely popular now:

Bought it again myself on Steam:

Here it is on GOG

Greenmangaming (more expensive)

Metascore of 81, but should a review such as this really count:
If you're into having your tears tugged at, this will definitely be a change from nights spent curling up on the couch spectating those romance flicks that no one else gets. If you're someone who winds up stuck with the aforementioned individual, originally promised beer and tricked into the awkward Kleenex duty, no guilt will be harbored from missing out.

I’m a wreck. I can’t delay telling you: To The Moon is a truly wonderful game. It’s the best game I’ve played this year. It’s a pixel-graphics indie adventure, mostly made by one guy, with a preposterous premise, and yet after spending the day playing it I’m emotionally exhausted. I’m not sure whether to write a review, or curl up in the fetal position and hug a pillow.

ArsTechnica
If you took a classic Japanese-style role-playing game and stripped it of all the traditional gameplay mechanics—experience points, equippable weapons and armor, usable items, and even combat itself—what exactly would you be left with? And more importantly, could this-stripped down experience actually be compelling? In the case of indie game To The Moon, the answer is surprisingly, yes. Though it can only loosely be described as a game—it's more of a long, mildly interactive cut scene—To The Moon's story and writing are so well done that it's still worth venturing through, even if you won't gain any experience points.

GamePro
To the Moon is a rare treat in this current crop of game releases. It doesn't break new ground with its storytelling, and it won't drop jaws with its unfolding action, but that's exactly what makes it a different kind of game. It calls for a moment of your time, and your undivided attention. It involves a lot of reading and a very little strategy. It explores a human concept -- the dying wish -- and invites you to come along. It's simple, poignant, and full of heart.

RPG Fan
The game may look like Chrono Trigger, but it is decidedly not a traditional RPG. It is definitely more adventure game than anything else, as the doctors need to find various "memory triggers" inside Johnny's memories in order to move backwards from his most recent memories to his earliest.

Multiplayer.it
To The Moon is a game as special as different, not for everyone. It is more than story-driven and will make you laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time. Let it drive you into a great story for some hours of your life and you will be surely rewarded.

GameSpot
To the Moon is a game you must play. It's available for download from developer Freebird Games' website for $11.99, which seems about right for this affecting four-hour tale. Those four hours pack a real punch, inviting you to consider just how a single event can change your destiny. For now, you should take control of your own destiny and play To the Moon. You'll be glad you did.

It's $10 for around 5 hours of emotional rampage that will make you truly appreciate those who can tell a good story.

Also, one of the best songs I've ever heard:

(minor spoilers for those who didn't play the game)

Only watched the trailers and will try out the demo, but I got enough right now that I don't need to buy it. Makes me very nostalgic of the mid-90s Squaresoft games like Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger in terms of the presentation.

Confucius says: "Point and Click adventure is a very difficult starting point in the road to success."

and also, "Man who go through Airport door sideways, is going to Bangkok."

Eh. Too much forced emotion, not nearly enough actual gameplay, I'll pass. I'm sure some really enjoy this type of game but not me. Gotta give the group props though for coming through with the game. You can definitely tell they put a lot into making it.

Plot device seems hammy. So they alter your memories on your death bed? Seems pointless. I'd rather die knowing who I was.

Looks good. I'll wait for it to be on Steam however.
Reminds me of Chrono Trigger, graphically.

Sounds like most of the players here only care about graphics or shooting and not setting or story. Sad :(

Looks like a good story game. I'll definitely check it out, thanks.
