Hi All,

After a bit of struggle between ViewSonic VX2025WM & NEC MultiSync 20WMGX2, I decided to settle for NEC.

I have a few queries.

1. I have a AMD FX-55, with an nVidia 6800 Ultra V9999 vid card running stock. Will I be able to run things smoothly on this moniter ?. I primarily use my rig to play games(UT2004/GW)/program/photoShop and browsing web

2. What are the different ways to test some of the issues known in LCD's
a) Dead Pixels b) Ghosting c) backlight uniformity

Should I also be checking for something else too?

Tx in advance

dead pixels - use pixel buddy
ghosting - any FPS like CS:S does fine...I have yet to test the VX2025 sitting in my car right now...can't wait to get home.
Backlight - even at circuit city, I could see backlight bleeding on all monitors, just by holding my hand over the monitor to block light while the monitor was displaying a black screen. To test, simply go into a back screensaver in windows in a totally dark room...

Also, look for input lag (people use clock timers on a CRT next to the LCD to see the lag)
Banding - I just went into Photoshop and made a veritcal, then a horizontal gradient that went from black to white to check for banding...the 204B had decently bad banding issues.

Also, regarding running things: if you plan to run Oblivion, plan to turn sutff down a lot...you'd do better with a 7xxx series (or x1900 series) but you won't do too bad. I will make sure to check out oblivion on mine once I find my install disc again...though I suspect I will find that even with a 7800GT, 1680x1050 will be hard to do...time to turn down foliage...:-(
