I have a Via Aqua 1300 in my water cooling system which im not too fond of. The first one i had i did the quiet mod on and it busted 3 months later, so i replaced it and didn't do the quiet mod, but the noise was so unbearable i had to do it, and now again there are issues with teh pump starting from standstill. The only other pump that will fit in my case is the hydor l20. If i replace the via aqua i'm losing nearly 200 gph. Will this greatly reduce the performance of the system? Does anyone know of any other small reliable pumps?

The system is:
1/2 id tubing
Via Aqua 1300
5 1/2 bay reservoir
Z-chip NB block in parrallel with
d-tek spiral water block
d-tek pro heater core

well although the pump isn't pushing that much gph because of resistance, but even still you will notice that. a friend gave me the idea of using a boat pump yesterday, it runs off 12v, so you might want to try it. http://www.boatersworld.com/webapp/...45&topCategory=249085&cat1=300838&cat2=343403 is a 500gph pump for $10. although i dont know about noise or vibration. i remember seeing other pumps that were said to be quiet.

just an idea, tell me if you do go with it cause i'm wondering how well it will work.

I had the same problem with the Via Aqua. One pump was way too loud, and another pump broke down after only few months use.

Now I'm using a "Quiet One" pump from Foster's and Smith, but I'd have to say that I'm not particularly happy with this one either. It is quieter than the Via Aqua, but far from what I'd consider "quiet".

It does seem to give the same performance as the Via Aqua (temps have not changed) and is about the same size. Still, I'm looking into quieter alternatives. Let me know if you find something good.
