I was quite shocked today when I went in to vote to find out that it was like taking a scantron test back in elementary school. I have never voted before nor does my area have computers (or whatever the hell they are called).

As I filled the bubbles yesterday's XKCD kept popping into head...was hard not to giggle.

I don't get these complications.

I went in, hit buttons next to the people I was voting for (buttons lit up once pushed) and then pushed a big orange button.

Paper is still the best. I grew up in NYC and they had these ancient lever machines that always jammed. Here in MA they have the "draw the line across the page" ballots and drop them in the computer feeder on your way out. Much, much better.

I clicked paper, but it went to computer!

I want to talk to your manager. Right now.

They had several machines here that were touch screen.
Not sure how they dealt with it but the people working there thought the machines did the voter verification and names for them, so about 30 people voted and they have no idea who they were

Both - The machines that I used today where electronic but also had a paper printout that was recorded with the machine that I could verify by looking at it before I finalized my vote.

I was like that on the Scantron tests, too - ensuring that I had a proper pencil, and filling in the bubbles completely. I sucked at coloring (had trouble staying in the lines), so being accurate on the tests took a long time.
