To lap or not to lap

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Tuniq tower 120 and my 6750. Should I lap them both? I won't be OC'ing like crazy, but would like to do some OC'ing for sure.

My fear is ruining either the HS or the CPU.

I doubt lapping is worth the time and effort for your intended OC.

However, here's an Excellent Lapping Thread to show you how.

Have you start lapping your E6750 yet?
I did, although there was no need since my cpu would not get warmer than 46C @ 5 hours in Orthos. I will test the same speeds again and see what the results are. But unless you are not going to do some mad overclocking, you are better off leaving it as it is.
I have a TT U-120-E lapped to a mirror finish and my CPU is lapped to a mirror finish (started @ 200grit all the way to 1500, took me 3 hours to finish). Although the potential is there to ruin either your CPU or Heatsink, if you take your time and carefully go through each step, it should be a walk in the park.
