Hey all, I desperately need (well want) to learn how to hack. I dont want to do anything malicious, I just wnat to know the basics, maybe jsut do some innocent harmless fun. Thanks for any hints

Kevin Mitnick was just trying to do some harmless fun and landed himself in prison.
Read books. Surf the web. Set up your own systems and try to hack into them. Get a friend to set up a system to hack.
Do NOT try to do any type of "black hat" cracking. That's the only way to guarantee you won't get in trouble.

I second that. Hacking is evil and bad. The only time when I might condone it is if you're the network admin and you're testing your own security to see if it's got any holes in it to keep out all the hackers. Otherwise...uh, no. Don't do it.
