To Flash or not to Flash that is the question

SO I'm sitting here with my 2 xfx 5870's all set to 900 mhz cause that's what my oem bios will allow for. Is it really all that worth it to go through the hassle of putting an unlocked bios on them to possible get another 50-100 mhz ?

yeah plenty fast, playing through Metro 2033 now at 2560x1600 very high dx 11. I get awesome frames 95% of the time. Was just looking to make it 96 or 97 lol

If you're getting 900 mhz on the stock I wouldn't mess with that. You're going to fix what isn't broken. You also might void your warranty with that as well, I'm not familiar with how XFX RMAs things.

I thought that 900 mhz was a CCC limitation? Anyways, I personally got my xxx edtition 5870 to 950 so far with a flash. I tested it first with MSI afterburner though, then flashed the settings.

My visiontek card should come tomorrow. Though, tbh, I needed a bit more vcore to get the 50 MHz, so idk.

so the general consesus here is "no". I would have guessed the opposite. I will keep the stock bios

Is it really all that worth it?

It might be fun project, but the end result will not be worth the time. You also probably wouldn't notice the difference.
