listing calories in food item isn't working since Americans are getting fatter.

lets try a Fat tax, and more importantly, LABEL it fat tax on the receipt.

here's my suggestion:
10% tax for each item in the dish that exceeds 1 serving.
fed govt defines a serving as something that fits in the cupped palm of 1 hand.

ie: 3 oz of spaghetti
3 oz of cheicken breast

so if 5oz of spaghetti and 5oz of chicken in the dish, then +20% tax

/obligatory only applies restaurants which are subject to mandatory calorie listings
ie: chains

Eating out is already expensive enough. If you really want to start curbing the weight issues, one of the many ways to start is to address the fact that junk food is cheaper than healthy food.

Or just release a game called "Hot Chicks Making Out GO" and then every male under 25 and all lesbians will be skinny.

Actually you have an idea, but it is the wrong tax. Replace the income tax with an obesity tax, based on BMI or something similar. If 5 foot and 500 pounds, you'd owe $500,000 in taxes for that year. Then watch America slim down.

Just tax fat people directly. That's the fairest way to institute a "fat tax". Exemptions for the few people that actually have under active thyroids and are 10-20lbs overweight, of course.

Control what we eat, eh?
What's next, personal activities?
Exercise tax! Hit the gym, or hit your wallet.

Ding ding ding!

Besides, if you get rid of America's obesity pandemic, there will be a significant decline in hospital's income that would have come from shit like gastric bypasses. You lads trying to take away jobs from American doctors? How dare you.

A tax won't do shit.

At work I'm more than willing to be fined 300 bucks than to participate in the very intrusive red brick health program.
