good luck to you all.... hopefully no one gets hurt. I still think it'd be cool to be down there near where it hits... (or directly in its path, as long as I'm away from the storm surge)

I'm in Orlando right now. Its just really windy, and the rain is cold.

On the news though, I saw footage of the winds ripping the roof off a K-Mart!

Well... This pretty much sucks. Been without power twice in the last 8 hours for about 3 hours at a time. Hot as hell w/o AC. I've cranked down the A/C and the frig while the power is back on just in case it dies again. I'm hoping the house and the frig can hold in the extra cold. :-(

The fridge definately can, try not to open it too much.

I'm down in Orlando for the weekend. Today was one of the most excruciatingly boring days ever. They put a mandatory curfew in effect and all I've been doing is lying in bed and snacking, and waiting for the power to go out. Nothing big going on right now, it's supposed to hit here around 2 pm tomorrow.

I was also in Orlando during Hurricane Charley, and this is worse because it's taking forever to pass.

Yea, this is one slow ass hurricane. We are finally starting to feel the effects in SW Florida. It's really windy now and the power has gone off and on a few times. I heard that there are tornado warnings. Hope nothing bad happens while I'm sleeping!

All you Florida people just think of all of us out in sunny California 🙂

At least we have warnings far in advance when hurricanes are comming. One day you'll wake up and you'll be in the middle of the Pacific.

Wish a hurricane would hit here, im bored.

No you don't. Try spending 2 days in 95 degree Florida heat hanging storm panels and plywood for all your family and friends, then having to sit and wait, to see if your house will still be standing after the storm is over.

🙂 Yeah. That sucked ass. Did it for my house, aunt's aunt's and my grandmother. Yeesh. I've heard some bitch " it better come after all this work...." but after living through Andrew, (and in S Dade right where it hit the hardest.) I don't share this sentiment. Imagine a 14 year old kid hanging on to the rafters for dear life while trying to nail up plywood faster than the storm could rip off the roof. We saved the house though (my family handed wood+nails up to me) and were one of a few houses that weren't completely wiped out in our area. We got lucky.

I'm so glad it's not hitting hard here (sorry to those North of me....). Right now just some strong winds and rain, but nothing to worry about. We'll see what happens the next couple of days.......

I'll be living there in October. From Hurricanes to Earthquakes. 🙂 It'll be a change of pace.

It is going to totally rule when the remainder of the hurricane's storms make their way up into Indiana. It will officially make Indiana the worst place on earth... we have tornado's, earthquakes, blizzards, and now, hurricanes.

Seriously though, good luck to all the FL people!

R
Quit your whining; Indiana's earthquakes are not nearly as bad as elsewhere, and neither is the snow.

hey, i have to step up for my fellow Floridians! I live in sunny san diego... but if i lived anywhere else it would definately be florida! Florida pwnz j00! The tropical weather is awesome... along with the warm ocean and the nice humidity. I'd rather take humidity than dry hot air. Anyways, florida rocks!

Definitely couldn't hold in the cold. 🙁

I lost power shortly after my last post and I'm STILL out of power. Fridge is warm and I had to throw everythig out. House is about 90 something degrees. Lanai is flooded and the paint is peeling from the standing water. Oak branches and leaves are EVERYWHERE. This really sucks. 🙁

Hang in there 🙂

Any pics?

Still out of power, BTW.

Yeah. Out of bordom, I took some shots from around the neighborhood. I'll post them once I have power, can get online from home and upload them.
