Just got curious after answering if I was ever picked up by the police thread, if the potential child molester drives upto the house but decides not to go in, do they get charged with anything?

I think I remember seeing one episode where one person doesnt enter the house but still got picked up

They usually explain it during the episode. I think it varies from state to state. Many times the chat itself is illegal, and they are arresting them for that. And the fact that they drove x miles might be enough to show intent, etc.

The crime has already been committed even before they step into the house. They already have logs of the illegal internet exchange between the person and the jailbait. Hell, even if they don't drive near the house, the police would have a warrant to pick the guy up.

There was at least one episode where that did happen and IIRC, he was picked up but the charges were thrown out.
