I own AMD at something like $20 a share. Dang it... this is the last time I don't put stop limits on my trades. UGH. Stock market is suck right now. It set up us the bomb.

If you can mortgage your house... buy any good tech stocks.... and wait for about 3 years, you'll be movin' on up to the east side like the Jeffersons on the gains you'll make.

That is unless this world gets pummeled by the forcoming military stuff that is building up.... UGH.

you could try to sell some covered calls at about 25. You'll make a bit of dough off the sale.... and then if the buyer ever exercises the calls, you'll get $25 per share for them... Of course... this is a long term thing.. probably a year or so to make it worth while.

Othe suggestion: sell at a loss, and at least reap the tax benefits this year.

If neither... then just sit pretty and hold. AMD shoudl be ok, unless they drop a bunch of bad news at their earnings announcement next month. UGH. They really need to churn out some new Athlons, and take some more market share from Intel.

tgillitzr,

I think you are right. Aren't their plants at full capacity? They are selling chips as fast as they can make it. So why price them so cheap if you are selling them anyway? Doesn't make sense. Market share means little if you can't make a profit while gaining it.

I do believe they are selling everything they can make, and Dresden isn't at 100% production yet. I don't think its over 75% production even.

Seems stupid to me, but what do I know..

The price I just looked at is 8.99. Watch for 4 up days in a row then that with other indicators would be a good time to buy.

Alright, what are you guys thoughts on EXDS? Could be a great investment. THe way I see it is, its at .50 a share so its a relatively cheap gamble but its payback could be great. What do you think?

The golden rule is to never put any money in the stock market which you might need, so mortgaging a house to buy stock seems like a bad thing to do, because you never know when the stock hit the bottom.

Another rule is that you never lose money on a stock until you sell, so you might as well wait if there's a good chance of a recovery soon. Selling stock now seems silly, unless you know they're going lower, or worse...

i don't think you can go wrong with any major tech stocks right now, they're all at a very low point, and if the market goes back up again, all should be well...

Exactly right. If you can't afford to take the loss, avoid the stock market. Many people get ruined every year when 'sure bets' fail

I like the High Volume stocks, a good portion of my settlement is going to go into Sun, they are so low right now and are always top 10 NASDAQ volume.

A staggering economy should be more beneficial to AMD than Intel because people will start trying to save money - by getting the best performance bang out of their buck. AMD should really benefit when IT peoples start looking to AMD for savings in large corporations - an area AMD hasn't even touched yet.

BTW, I have all my money in AMD and I'm not going anywhere.

The reason why AMD is losing money, is more because the flash industry went down a lot. The price war with Intel has always been there.
I like AMD's processor, they're better than Intel's equivalent GHz processor - but it doesn't seem like everyone knows this. They just think that the higher the GHz, the better it must be.

I own AMD - I'm not gonna sell it or buy any more. I think there are better buys out there.

Rambus is a good "research project". Don't get me wrong, the guy was my professor and he's an incredibly smart guy. But it only works well in theory and lab, but very hard to manufacture. I don't think it'll last long. The telecommunications industry seems to be leaning towards QDR - the one that'll get their endorsement.
