to build or to buy?

so i've been looking around. prices are so low these days on computer setups that to me the question begs to be asked...

is building a computer that much better than just ordering a custom setup from a site like http://www.ascendtech.us?

i want to build my own, but im confused as to what works with that as i havent kept up on things and it'd really kill the headache if i can just get a barebones windows setup with all the new stuff i want, selling the stuff i dont want, and keeping some of my current parts.

prices seem about the same as if u were to build your own. what do u guys think?

Hmm, I built my computer this past summer for 600$ and it was easily beating its pre-built 1000$ competitors.. I would build it will save you quite a bit of money! If your not sure on whats compatible or how to do it, just post here and ask =)

Computer parts can be expensive. If you are like me, you have enough spare, backup parts laying around you can just pick up a new processor or cpu and Mb and put a system together in a couple of hours. There are some good deals out there. What's a decent computer costs today...less than $1000? I saw a great socket 939 barebones for $199 at Fry's the other night. It just depends on your situation. If you go out and buy all the latest high performance components and build a system (dual core CPU, 965/975/680 MB, 8800 GTX, 500 GB HD, top notch case, etc.) it's going to cost thousands. So, maybe a reasonably priced barebones would be the answer for you if not an entirely prebuilt system. Ask yourself what you will be using the computer for? Or do you just want to build a computer to be building one?

I think that building your our PC is the way to go. That way you know what you exactly what you are getting. Just remember that it is a must to do your research so that you can get the best bang for your buck with and purchase quaility hardware.
