To beans or not to beans? (Chili)

The "authentic" Texas way to do it is without beans, but I've always preferred chili with beans. I think it's tastier that way, plus it's healthier and more economical.

I can't stand beans either OP. When my mom would make chili, before she added the beans in she would put some in a separate pot for me.

If you put beans in a chili in an officially sanctioned contest, they will disqualify you.
Authentic chili has no beans.
No pollage sux.

+1 4 beans. I usually make a very spicy chili and use the beans to moderate it. Just like the moderators here use beans to quell the "spiciness."

Gf loves kidney beans and I hate them. Which would be more authentic?
If you're looking for good chili don't use that recipe. Kidney beans in chili is very mid-western. If you like beans, by all means add them. Chili is very regional so, make what you like. Chili is as American as it gets so, you can even add 'shudder' turkey to it.
