If your card is functional, I wouldnt see any reason to return it. There is a 3 year warranty on the card, so you should be ok.

I sent it in just before new years and am waiting to receive the replacement. I hope the replacement is not one of the bad boards someone else sent back to them!
I just got mine back from RMA a few days ago, it seems to be working great :D

As for Gainward, for me this has only solidified my confidence in them. They issued an RMA immediatly, I did not have to wait on hold more than a total of 5 minutes in all 3 phone calls to them combined. (havent been this lucky with any other companies) Further, I would be willing to bet, that the Gainward Reasearch and Developement is not going to make a mistake like this again and will probably increase their screening of third party parts (resistors and such).

I also remember reading about a problem with the 64meg cards. I've had the 128 GS for at least six months or more and haven't had a problem at all.

I've also owned several Gainwards, starting with the GF2MX 32 meg. There was a time when they were considered great cards. Never had a problem with any of them so far. I hope it stays that way.

Well my luck has turned sour...

Three days ago, I was using my computer for the usual browsing and email and after 5 months with minimal problems, I received the purple checkerboard screen and a prompt hard lockup. I took out the card and got a box. The day after, I called Gainward and they quickly gave me an RMA number. I was ready to go mail it out today but then I stumbled across the AMDForums thread. In the first post, the moderator recommended trying to RMA it back to the place of purchase as some of Gainward's replacement cards were still "iffy".

It has been almost 6 months from the time of purchase of my card from newegg.com and I am wondering if they would take it back. This would be my third video card from a single purchase if it works out....

I would try to deal with Gainward directly. Even though this is really bad press for them, it does seem like they are turning it around and offering prompt RMAs. Of course they haven't owned up to it publicly yet, but at least they are doing the right thing so far.
