Want to help her? I mean this. Help her get some counselling, you could save/change her life.

You don't "pop out of" depression.

Yeah, actually, you do. It's entirely relatively possible.

No, you don't. :|

Are you calling me a liar? Are you saying that you know more about my life than I do?

Maybe if you'd said:
"Yeah, actually, I do. It's enitrely relatively possible for me."

Instead you chose to speak for everyone.

If my dumbass can do it, then anyone can. I'm, like, the slowest, dumbest person I've ever met. If I accomplish anything, then that something that I accomplish MUST be fvcking child's play to anyone else.

But she's been with her for a long time now and refuses to give up. What would be the best thing for the friend to do. What do u think would make the hot chick pop out of the depression. Oh, btw, the @$$wipes who are taking advantage of her are in it just for the sex.

Grammer nazi's just leave this alone.

If you cant say something constructive, stay away.

Your friend can't make this happen. She can only try to be supportive and helpful, and keep urging her friend to get professional help. Until she wants to help herself, she will continue her patterns.

Kudos to both of you for doing what you can to help someone in a bad spot. I hope it works out.

You're right. Since you are the Center of the Universe and everyone who disagrees or asks to to explain your profound views is a gay stalker, just tell the friend she will likely pop out of it

No, it takes hard work. Humans are quite simple in some regards. You first have to be willing to change. Then you consider what steps to take to perpetuate the kind of lifestyle/mentality that you wish to have. Then you actually *gasp* make an effort to bend your life and live the way you want to live until it becomes second nature.

... Is this puppy love? I couldn't really tell, as I'm not as fluent in AOLese as would be necessary to translate the OP to something legible.

I know and agree with what you're saying Nik, as I too have dealt with it.

I don't know why I bother, Alex. It's obvious who's dealt with it and who hasn't. It's also obvious who's found the key to defeating it and who hasn't. I guess we just have to leave it at that since the only real way to understand depression is to legitimately be depressed -likewise the only real way to understand breaking free from it is to legitimately break free from it as well.

This is SUCH BS - you are still conspicuously mentally ill, so it's hard to imagine why anyone would ever take your advice on such an important subject. Until you're Dr. Nik, maybe you should consider shutting the hell up for once.

Considering that nobody on AT has a degree in psychology, and he still asked the question on AT, maybe you should stfu? Like I said, I still have my problems, but I've gotten over enough of them to know what I'm talking about. So kindly eat my ass.

Ahem - I DO have a degree in psychology. I imagine many other people here do as well. Clinical depression has a significant fatality rate, and requires professional help, notwithstanding your idiotic advice.

As for your, er, flattering offer, I fear your ass is far too full of recycled Cheez Whiz and Slim Jims for my taste, so I'll refrain.

She nearly did 'pop out' of depression. The way a fair number of seriously depressed people do, thorugh the wrists. If she's that seriously depressed, she needs medical help.

(edit) And yes, Nik, I do have a psych degree. If you make many more sweeping statements like that I may begin to doubt your omniscience.

I took Nik statement as it's possible to snap out of depression. I didn't think he was saying everyone could. Some of you people need to lighten the fvck up and quit being so anal, unless you are depressed too, and in that case, just snap the fvck out of it.

Counseling and/or medication are certainly not the answer for everyone. Maybe some people need it, but I know others don't. I'm very wary of just using a medication to "correct" a chemical imbalance when there may be other methods available--it should only be a last resort.
