To all nVidiots on this board - happy now?

I was a 3dfx zombie and would kill for them 😉. My master just died. Are you nVidiots happy now? Remember the wars we had and the crossfire in the threads? It was fun...

So who the hell am I supposed to support now? ATI? NO WAY. Guess I'll have to leave brand loyalty behind and just buy whatever's recent and at an accessible price.

Sh!t, it kind of hurts to say it, but 3dfx is no more...

SO, ARE YOU NVIDIOTS CELEBRATING VICTORY?

I like Nvidia ,Matrox,Ati & even 3dfx is just some of there fans have a attitude problem like "Hardware".

🙂

Yes, I own Nvidia stock, and I have a grounded, personal interest in seeing them dominate the market.

glen, I understand where your coming from, don't get me wrong... 😉
But, I think its very unfortunate considering we are already complaining about video card prices being too high.

I agree!
While it may be bad for consumers, I think it is great for Nvidia stock holders.
We will see. But, I think it might be fantastic for consumers. Nvidia has nothing to gain by sticking it to consumers for a product cycle and pissing everyone off. What they probably will do is use all their recently aquired patent technology, 3dfx, Giga Pixle, and engineers from Matox, and their own techs, and put out a badass video card.

Hahaha Nvidia has killed the market it sought to dominate. I and other people cannot afford to buy $500+ video cards, especially when all these cards are used for are games. All game developers will have to support the Voodoo3 and Voodoo5 in all their upcoming games or be forced to make only pocket change with the hard-core of the hard-core gaming market. Beleive it or not, gaming is a mass market proposition (just look at how well cheap consoles and games sell for an example), as soon as the mass market can't afford it, game companies will have to support whatever people have, aka the thing known as the lowest common denominator aka a Voodoo3 🙂. So Nvidia is sh*t out of luck if they think $500+ T&L video cards are gonna fly 🙂🙂🙂

Not realy, then again I´m not an nVidiot........ GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MATROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOXXXXXXXXXXXX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is everyone bitching about Nvidia expecting people to pay $500 + for a card?
The GF2MX is about $120.
The latest and greatest top of the line video solution has always been about $400 to $500 since SLI. Even the Voodoo 1 debuted at $400.

Hey Glen why would I change my quality Voodoo card(excellent 2D/3D) for a sh*ty MX? Sorry but I play games only occasionally, Nvidia's crappy 2D just doesn't cut mustard. Oh ya and that MX has about half the performance of a Voodoo5 🙂

-->>The GF2MX is about $120

the GF2MX were created to compete at the lower end. when NVIDIA start dominating the market like Intel did back in the old days you'll start seeing $500+ cards.

Hey Czar -

Matrox dropped out of the game earlier, after nVidia bought the engineers that were working on the G800. There'll be no G800 and maybe no gaming card from Matrox ever.

[edit] BTW, it's time to revise your signature.

Why does everyone think that NVIDIA is only going to prodcue $500-600 vid cards? Maybe they will continue their quadro line as high priced, but everything else will stay reasonable (within the $400 mark). Why would they do this? Nobody would be able to afford to buy their product then. They will probably always have a product line ranging in price like they do now, but i don't think they will force 600 dollar cards on us. ATI would pounce in a second. Don't forget about them. If they can get their driver support together and havev an awesome next gen card, then NVIDIA will have some competition. The radeon isn't a bad card.

bigshooter, $400 US IS $600 Canadian...even at $300 US thats $450 Canadian + Taxes puts it at $500+. Thats where we get this idea that Nvidia cards are going to be $500+.

Btw I bought my Voodoo card for $250 Canadian.

(within the $400 mark) is definitely not reasonable and not affordable.

Anyway. can we judge what Nvidia is gonna price their cards at? Let's see what happens and it's bad enough, we'll look for alternative. 😛

<< Hey Glen why would I change my quality Voodoo card(excellent 2D/3D) for a sh*ty MX? Sorry but I play games only occasionally, Nvidia's crappy 2D just doesn't cut mustard. >>

nVidia bought 3dfx's intellectual property.. or whatever. They bought the Technology from 3dfx, after 3dfx went out of business. nVidia now has access to 3dfx's 2D engine, Glide (who cares about glide though, right?), and their awesome SLI or Multi-Chip technology, dddfx's anti-aliasing tech, and more... Imaging what a dual GTS Ultra chip board could do..

I imagine the FTC will be breathing down nVidias neck for quite some time, making sure they dont abuse their new found success..

Maybe we'll see new product levels.. A low-end, middle-end, high-end, and work-station..
------------
Death, How do you define nVidiot? Is that some sort of derogetory(sp) term?

<<Guess I'll have to leave brand loyalty behind and just buy whatever's recent and at an accessible price.>>
Shouldn't you do that anyways?

The voodoo 5 started at $500+taxe canadain, now it`s down to $300.
Creative 3D Blaster Annihilator 2 is $375 canadain now. It started out at like $600.
What about the Geforce 256. That has comparable performence to the V5 and it`s alot cheeper.

They have always perduced expensive video cards, but the price went down. Most people don`t buy the biggest and the best cus it`s just to expensive. They buy the little brother which is all they need at the moment and it`s at resinable price.

Nobody will buy a card they cannot afford just to play games. If nobody buys them, Nvidia would have to lower their price until the market thinks it's affordable. We're the consumer and Nvidia are suppose to reason out with majority. If not, they will eventually lose. REMEMBER THIS, NO US NO NVIDIA.

Nvidia will continue to make cards ranging from 100 bucks to 500 bucks to 1000 for stuff like the quadro. Nvidia wants to increase their market share not kill it.... Selling only a $500 video card would be handing ATi all the market share.

So what is the point of producing a $500 card then? Developers will always need to support the lowest common denominator aka the $100 card. In other words having all the extra stuff on the high-end $500 card does didly squat because developers know that their games must run good on a lowly $100 card with the $100 cards feature set 🙂

no, I like competition, even if the competition sucks... <i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif>

ATI will be up against them. Radeon was powerful, all they need was a betetr driver support. By doing so, I'm sure Nvidia would have some trouble.

As for making cards ranging from $100 to $500, I think it's totally up to us to choose what is good for us and what is not. 😉. Why would we buy a $100 card and be happy with it's performance and not get the top of the line . Simply is because we can't afford it. Afterall, we don't really use all the power the GPU produces.

I never understood guys like you. Unless you had 1000000 shares of their stock to warrent your passion then the wars you had was just silly IMO. Don't get me wrong, I'll mourn their passing just as much as the next guy. I still remember the first time I fired up my voodoo1. But 3dfx just couldn't keep up IMO.

REMEMBER THIS, NO US NO NVIDIA.

Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
