So I bought my 8800GTX a few weeks ago and haven't registered yet. Should I? I mean if I have an issue later I can always register right before claiming warranty right?
 
Alright, but then how do they control the Step Up program? That way I can just wait till something new hits and then register or something right? Also is the step up restricted to only citizens of the US of A?

It's been a while since I registered an EVGA card, but I think you enter a purchase date or its done through the card's serial number (cant remember) which is also confirmed by them when you send them your invoice.
 
Alright but I don't need to send them a copy of the invoice unless I go for step up right? I can just register normally otherwise?

The invoice date of your original card is the start of the 90 days I believe. StepUp is available to the US and Canada.

US and Canadian customers are allowed to. I'm in Canada and I was going to StepUp but after reading on the eVGA forums that some Canadians got charged customs at the border...I decided to just eBay my 7900GTO (made a profit) and just buy the 8800 from here.

I wouldn't worry about the Step-up program. I think the limit in 90 days after you purchase a card. And I highly doubt Nvidia will be releasing a faster card anytime soon.

Alright so I am not worried about Step up.

Say I want to sell this baby in a couple of years... which is why I put off registration so that can pass on the warranty... I am just wondering if I HAVE to have a receipt to register in case warranty is needed. I kinda lost it...

 
Wether you plan to step up or not why not go ahead and register it? It doesnt cost anything to register it other than a couple minutes of your time.

I also suggest you go ahead & register... with a GTX the Step-up program is unlikely to help you much, but the warranty situation makes it a requirement... in addition EVGA offers an advanced replacement warranty for a fee & at the moment if you sign up its half price.

Meh- go ahead and register now and plead your case later if need be. They will cave in your situation and honor the lifetime warranty.
 
I went ahead and registered for the overnight advance replacement, if my 8800gtx tanks at least I got a replacement quick 🙂

Ahh well I registered. Didn't want to risk it.

Also I am pretty sure that 30 day thing is BULLSHIT. They don't want a receipt... And stores have boxes lying for months... how can they prove when you bought. I should have toughed it out and not registered... The reason is I might sell this in a year and want to pass the warranty.
