TNT2U v/s Geforce 2 GTS 32

Hi, last year I bought a tnt2u card (viper v770 u), and I like pc games (specially shotter and rpg), but I don`t know what to do... keep with my tnt2u or buy the new geforce 2 gts 32. If I don`t buy it, I have to whait one year (my birthday 🙂), so my question is.. ¿I whait for the next year to buy a big and better card because my tnt2u is good enough to help me running new games in d3d or opengl, or I just buy the gts 32 with more preformance?

You must be pretty shallow if all you have to worry about is upgrading your video card. Making decisions and setting your own priorities is all a part of growin up. Welcome to reality.

Can't you wait until Christmas to get a new card??? ...just a thought..anyways...It all depends on what your system is right now. I have a voodoo3 3500 ....and I just upgraded to a Celeron 566@850....i just got that so I don't know how much farther I can push it...but this setup is more than enough for my needs....I probably won't get a new card until December at the earliest......get if you really want to...but personally I wouldn't get a new card if I had a TNT2 Ultra already......

Kintoke: let's have a look at the rest of your system first. You may not get all that much of a performance boost going from TNT2u to a GeForce 2 GTS if the rest of your system will slow it down.

My spec are:
P3 - 500
128 ram
soyo 6vba 133

about the christmas.. well the thing is that I live in chile, but my father goes to usa one time a year, so then I ask him to buy stuff (more cheap than chile).

Hey Kintoke,
You will see a performance increase going to the Geforce, but it will be minimal, as you CPU will be the bottleneck. You may be able to OC it.
My suggestion, stick with what you have for now ... the TNT2 ultra is still a great card.
Nvidia's next generation cards are supposed to be out before the end of the year...upgrade then.

hi !
do not try any changes yet . the V770U , is a great card .
to my experience , you won't feel the difference .
yehi

I would stick with the TNT2 Ultra because the CPU will be the bottleneck. Unless you have a PIII 600 or higher the GTS would be a waste of money.

Think about upgrading the cpu first. The PIII 700E@933 cB0 stepping is an awesome upgrade and cheap.

BTW. When I had the PII 450 and upgraded from TNT to GeForce GTS I noticed very little speed improvements in games except Quake III. Then when I upgraded the cpu the performance whent through the roof.
