TNT2 Ultra or Geforce 2MX?

kingofcomputer, you still talkin about 3DMark? 🙂 It really is useless. I upgraded from a TNT2u to a V5, guess what, my old 3DMark score was around 2000-3500, now I get like 2500-4000, not much better 3DMark wise, sometimes worse, and yet the V5 destroys the TNT2 in EVERY GAME by FAR. Hmm I haven't had to cry about 3DMark in awhile. I'd forgotten how much fun it is 🙂

Oh, and audreymi, the MX certinaly does not have Matrox 2D quality.
 
I appreciate all the good info. I have learned two very important things from this thread: 1)MX is better than TNT2U 2)3DMark sucks.
 
No. 3DMark sucks. Someone can be getting 90 fps in QIII @1024x768x32, and yet have a 3DMark of like 2000. It is not accurate. And it is inconsistant on some computers for no apparent reason. When I benchmark games, I get the same thing every time. When I use 3DMark, I get something different every time. 3DMark makes a decent stability test, and IF it is consistant for you, it can be used to check software changes to a system(like changing a driver) but as soon as you get into different componants, it simply is worthless.

No it doesn't suck as a benchmark. At least it scales with 3d accelerators **coughUTcough** and CPU/memory subsystem.

Are you talking about someone running Voodoo1 or Bansee with HSR = 4? 😀
This is only possible when D3D driver/Direct X is seriously impaired. Come on, give me a real example other than the HSR crap.

It is very accurrate to evaluate upcoming titles (like Payne. based on MAX-FX engine which is used in Game Test 2 - Adventure), though not so much for the last century's. And it is VERY consistant for computers with hardware/BIOS/driver/API properly set up. If the mark goes off track there must be something wrong.

This is only related to your personal hatred on 3dmark, not for the majority of us.
