so i just got a tnt2 from a friend of mine. it's a best data arcade fx tnt2 m64. it works under linux. however in windows 2000 it locks up unless i disable all hardware acceleration. i've used both the drivers supplied by microsoft on the windows 2000 cd and the cd supplied by the manufacturer. same problem. any ideas?

Sorry I couldn't resist... Have you d/l the current drivers from nvidia? Also as a comparison you should d/l & install the recent nvidia linux drivers and do something in 3D, be it quake3 or Tux Racer or whatever. Many times the drivers included with a distro are not 3D accelerated.

i compiled xfree. 2d acceleration is better than my previous card. haven't tried any 3d applications in linux yet though.

kinda hard to make the comparison then. I'd still recommend the drivers from nvidia's site for win2k at least. I never use crusty old drivers from a cd.

Also look into BIOS settings for video/agp, some boards have an over-abundance of such settings, others have nil.

the bios only has less than a hadnful of settings for the agp slot. i think it's the way windows 2000 uses the accelerated 2d functions. i reinstalled windows 2000 and i still get the same problem. it's really annoying.
