Nope

[UPDATE]: Thanks to Google and the watchful eye of our readers, it seems that Wireless Advocates, LLC provides in-store product distribution and reselling of wireless products for Costco stores nationwide. It still doesn’t 100% confirm why T-Mobile’s name shows up in this database entry and not Verizon’s, but we can see where an honest mistake would come into play

iphone will still be king of the phones for the forseeable future. It might be less powerful, but android can not touch the iphone yet in terms of software.

Would you care to explain that one? It's pretty easy to debate that it's not the king of software now and won't be in the future either.

The Android OS in and of itself is far more flexible than the iPhone OS. iPhone OS 4 doesn't look like it will make the iPhone as functional as Android is either.

When it comes to apps, you have ~40,000 on Android Market vs ~180,000 on the iPhone app store as of my writing this. There are more total apps on the iPhone store but it's not like anyone would really feel limited with the Android Market. Besides, Android Market is expected to surpass the iPhone app store in app count in a year tops if all you care about is numbers.

The majority of the apps on the iPhone app store are also just duplicate apps(hundreds of chess games, hundreds of pdf readers, etc..). It's not like you have 180,000 completely unique programs you can run on your phone if you want. Android Market also allows all kinds of apps that Apple does not allow at all on their store. For pretty much everything in the iPhone app store right now, there is an equivalent on the Android Market.

Apple’s App Store has over 100,000 apps in it. Google’s Android Marketplace has 30,000. Apple wins, right? Wrong. There’s pretty much an app for everything you’d need on Android. Every app I use on my iPhone has an Android version, most of the time by the same developer. Pandora, Facebook (this one even comes preloaded on the Nexus One), Sonos controller, XBMC Remote, they’re all there and they all work just as well as the iPhone versions. -Anand

I'm almost 99% sure this was a mistake. The HTC Droid Incredible (yes, they added the Droid prefix) is supposed to be a Verizon exclusive similar to the Desire (GSM) and Nexus One. Since the Droid INC is so close to the Desire, I highly doubt they would spend the money to rework the Droid INC with GSM guts when they already have several GSM phones like it.

There is no argument, that you can do more with the android. Android has many more options. It would be embarrassing if an open source product could not yield more options.

The apps on the iphone will get much more support since it has a larger user base. The iphone will be king of the phones because it is just a superior interface. Having used both the android os and the iphone. There is no comparision. The AVERAGE user will much more prefer the iphone.

Will the incredible/android be the king of the phones for people who to tweak thier phones(programmers)? Yes of course and that is why you see the overwhelming mjority of users being male. The andoird is not intuitive at all. To me they dressed up windows mobile 6.5 and added an app store.

The AVERAGE user does not want to tweak or do anything to thier phone other than download apps and use it. Apple has the best offering. Simple interface(my mother can use it) sleek design and most support due to its larger user base. That is why the iphone will be king of the phones for the mass market.

There is a reason why apple can charge the hell out of people for that phone and required plan. You don't see the android phones getting anywhere near that level of pricing when it comes to plan pricing.

That may be true today, but the iPhone cannot match Android in terms of carrier adoption (US) or available devices. iPhone may be available in more countries today, but Android Market is adding more countries monthly and not limiting carriers to "exclusive" agreements. Hard to argue which platform is more "open" for developers either way.

apple is shooting themselves in the foot by not allowing verizon to sell iphone. they could be tripling their sale overnight. most people who have verizon droid would have otherwise bought iphone. most of them never even would have tried droid if iphone had been available. but now you have millions of droid customers locked in for the next 18 months and by the time theyre available again, android might actually be as good or better than iphone

There has yet to be an app that I wanted but could not find on Android.

I had this concern when I left my iPhone for the Droid. 6 months later and I don't miss my iPhone and the App store at all. Granted, that's my personal experience but I don't think it's hard to see that the Android marketplace is slowly (very slowly) catching up to the App store.

The iPhone had good growth overall but I wonder how the growth was in the US. Apple has to surely be reaching a saturation point by only being on one carrier here.

iPhone sales are still growing, it's currently available in ~160 countries, with 3 major markets that have exclusive carrier contracts, the US, Germany, and some other country.

Blowout earnings yesterday, with a nice bump in the stock price, ~6%. And that's without iPad sales... iPad sales will be reflected in the next quarter, and they'll be great, they should have nearly 1 million WiFi iPads sold by now, and the 3G versions coming by the end of the month. The iPad is only sold in the U.S. currently. International sales will be insane volumes when they start.

Weren't they delayed internationally...not because of hugh demand here but because of low supply of the lcd panels? But I guess people will twist that to mean it was because of demand.

I honestly have no idea. The logistics must be a nightmare to keep track of.

Apple has sucked the LCD supply chain dry iirc, just like they do with flash memory, other manufacturers have complained about the 800 lb gorilla of Apple and it's effect on component availability for building similar devices.

I'll gladly swap out my iPad for an android tablet when one approaches the functionality of the iPad (and will likely eclipse it with a camera and replaceable battery)
