Tmobile eliminating grandfathered plans

Anyone see the discussiosn about this?

Wondering if this would be a good time to go re-up all my lines before that ability is eliminated at end of the month and then if I don't like the plan they move me to, just ditching the contracts.

Yeah, I think it's a pretty great move. Also that they're letting you out of contracts until the end of January is great.

I don't know how they're handling upgrades but if you can upgrade I'd go ahead and do it.

I don't know about the majority of plans being handed out but I've seen quite a few people get the $45/mo unlimited minutes, text and 4G data offer. With a phone payment, that would be about $70/mo for unlimited everything. If I could get that plan on TMo I'd probably switch.

But I can't, so...

It looks like some people have been offered $45 for what's effectively the current $50 post paid plan - unl min, text, data (500MB 4G). Wonder if it's possible to get on this if you're not on the grandfathered plan. Family member just converted to one of the new plans =(

I have 2 lines with them now both with unlimited data and texting and 1000 mins each. I pay 105 a month. Hope I can keep it.

It's my understanding from the letters that have been posted is that the $45 plan is unlimited 4G data, not just 500MB. Unless something else has come out.

The regular price is only $120 for an equivalent plan. I'm sure they can bridge the $15/mo gap somehow.

I think the main downside would be the loss of your subsidy. At $105 MRC right now, I'd want to probably hit at least $80 to mostly cover the cost of new phones.

I'm confused on if this applies just to individual or family plans. I have 5 phones on a family plan and am wondering how this will go because I resigned last november just before the new no-contract plans...

all plans go bye bye, from what I've seen, only individual plan holders had letters sent out so far, the next batch to go out where the family plans.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm assuming this for for older grandfathered plans. Not the current classic plans in existence right now.

I am using the pre-paid 30 dollar plan. If they kill it for some reason then I'm fine switching carriers. Right now thats their only advantage. Their speed and coverage is inferior, their phone selection is inferior, and most unlocked international models wont get full LTE speeds with them.

been tracking the SD threads, saw this recently posted.

Found that Tmo stopped the letters until Nov 1st so folks do not upgrade at Costco, BB etc.. And get free ETF. So we won't be seeing them until next month
