tmobile $25 refill card with $39.99 phones on again

Tmobile prepaid http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/Phones/Prepaid.aspx
has the moto v192 or a nokia 2610 for $40 and they regularly offer a $25 phone card - it's been missing for a while but it's back now. I got the quad band v192s with one last time - reasonable deal for anyone looking for a cheap phone. After 90+ days uninterrupted service and a refill in the previous few weeks you should be able to get an unlock code - once unlocked it's much cheaper to buy a local sim card when you travel to europe or asia......

You can easily flip the Moto V195 for what you paid for it on fleabay, so this is an easy way to score a free $25 refill. T-Mo will only let you buy 2 phones every 90 days (or is it 6 months?) though.

This quarterly special is alive again.

T-mobile is the best "emergency" plan I've seen. I bought a phone for my mom almost 3 years ago. After spending $100 for refills, I spend $25 year and she never uses up her minutes.

Last year we took advantage of this deal to upgrade her phone to a quad-band and she can use it wherever she is.

wow this is good deal if you can resell it on ebay for 30+.. im still debating it since i have a whole basket of really nice touch screen / smart phones already

Thanks for the bump, Athena. Just in time. I need a refill in 1 mo. to keep my gold airtime alive. Plus, my Nokia 6101 I got on the last deal has really poor volume. Reviews say the V195 has good volume, and I want BT to sync contacts.

Is this dead already? I dont see the $25 offer at all anymore.
The offer seems to come every quarter or so. It is back in play today -- get one now if you need it.

They didn't send me the $25 refill card with my new V195. When I ordered a week or so ago it was on the webpage. I called to complain, and they mailed me the card -- arrived yesterday.

Just ordered 2 phones, V195s.
Will just leave them in the car for emergencies and will take them to Spain to use for work.

Thanks OP! I just ordered a V195. I have always used Nokia phones, but I figured that I would try a Motorola this time since the Battery life looks to be AMAZING.

I hardly use my cell phone. I just keep it around for emergencies or when I am stopping off after work (shopping, etc...). Half the time the phone sits in my car, or it sits in my bag. The idea of having 17.5 days of standby time (two and a half weeks!) is just perfect for my use. Not to mention that my old phone was stolen out of my car about a year ago, so I have been using a 2-3 year old phone and it is starting to show its age.

For $43.44 shipped to NY after tax I am TOTALLY happy. Then add in the $25 refill card and it is a super hot deal!

I like the V195, too, switching from a Nokia 6101 (I never used the camera). I got a cheap Airlink BT adapter on sale for $8 from Fry's, and the software that came with it let me drag a contact from Outlook, causing it to drop on the V195's screen, where I had the option to accept or reject it. Way cool!

One caveat: Later on I noticed that the V195 had lost my ring setting. I called TMo CS, and they looked up the problem in their V915 FAQ. Apparently it is a "known issue" that the V195 may revert to the default ring profile after using BT. The default is "vibe and ring". I switched it back to "Loud" profile, and fortunately it still had my selected ringtone ("Ambient" which I quite like!). So be warned.

I got in on this awhile back. Thanks OP.
Does anyone know of any bitpim type software that could be used to transfer contacts/tones/pictures from a pc to the V195 via it?s mini-usb port?

This guy seems to like DataPilot better than MPT. I haven't tried either

BTW, are these mini-USB cables standardized? I have one for my Magellan Maestro GPS that has an identical mini plug. I'd hate to try it and have it fry the phone.

Can I unlock the v195 immediately? I'm going to asia soon and this looks like it would really come in handy! I've also be a t-mobile pre-paid customer for a while, just not with this phone, will they give me the unlock code then?

I think the T-mobile unlock rules are once every 90 days and you have to ask within 30 days of refilling.

You call Customer Service, they take your information, and the unlock info comes via e-mail in a day or two.

Im in! nice bday present for my lil sis.
So how do the prepaid cards work? Minute use I'm guessing. Is there like a penalty if you use it up and don't refill right away?

Tmobile prepaid 101, buy $100 refill and you become a golden member with minutes lasting 363 days between refills, and 364 days later even a $10 refill rolls your balance over for anothe 365 days. I use a plain 10 cents a minute plan, but there are one or two other prepaid options like any day the phone is used its $1 for that day with some evening or something free call period.

Couple months ago the Nokia 2610 was FAR, might be back again in Oct.
