Saw 3g pop up on my friends iphone under simple mobile. Anyone else starting to see 1900 roll out in the larger NYC area?

I believe T-Mo has 1900 in the NYC market listed as officially up.

Coverage in NYC isn't 100%. Manhattan is probably more like 50-60% done, boroughs are 40-50%ish. The network is HSPA+21 as they have only 20Mhz of PCS, and 10Mhz is used for GSM.

Network performance on the other hand is exceptional! Propagation has been improved at least 30% over their AWS HSPA, and peak throughput is just under 19mbps (out of 21mbps). Average is 5-10mbps. Also call quality is always Full Rate.

And it looks like they'll be launching a truly unlimited, unthrottled prepaid plan for $70 starting January 9th.

If they even had 3G here (for their smartphones) and I new 1900mhz was on the way I'd go back to them.

I had them for a month with my iPhone and couldn't stand it... was great that it was only $30 a month for service but with only 100 minutes and no option for mobile VOIP there wasn't much reason to stick with them.

No, tmobile doesn't have any LTE launched yet, by the end of the month in Las Vegas. Since the AT&T purchase of TMobile didn't happen, AT&T, as far as I'm aware, has held off on 1700mhz LTE. I'm not sure if they have any 1700mhz sites up.

This is mainly for people who want to bring iPhones to tmobile.

Recently I've been hearing T-Mobile commercial on the radio in Phoenix telling customers they use their unlocked AT&T phones on T-Mobile now. So I'm guessing this must mean the 1900Mhz roll out is ready in Phoenix?

Not necessarily. They've been running the 'Bring your old phone' promotion for about a year now. All AT&T phones will work on TMobile, but data speed is limited to EDGE unless it's been refarmed.

But, Phoenix has been launched as a refarmed market last year.

I think Phoenix was one of the first cities to officially launch. They're aggressively rolling it out, too. I expect most of their territory will be covered by 1900Mhz 3G by mid year, with the whole map covered by the end of the year.
Makes me wonder when exactly T-Mo will launch their first phone without UMTS on 1700.

My city has launched as 1900 but I dont have an unlocked phone to test with and my N4 doesn't have a way to lockout AWS as far as I know.

Nice speeds! Does anyone know if its possible for a phone that has AWS1700/2100 and 1900 work simultaneously with all 3 bands? (Galaxy Nexus)

What do you mean simultaneously with three bands? AWS + PCS + ?
Also do you mean MC-HSPA+ ? Not sure.

With NYC, it's faster to use the Google Wifi they deployed in the Chelsea area + AT&T Wifi all over the place. Haha
