Got a Tivo for Christmas and was going to return it since I have MCE on one of my computers, but I may keep it if this works out.

What I don't get is, why does the FAQ mention that you MAY be able to burn shows to DVD? If it's in a format your computer can run, then how would it not be burnable?

Sure you could burn it to a data DVD, but not necessarily video DVD.

Excellent. One problem though, I am currently using 11b Wifi for my TiVo connection... Going to have to run some cable into the living room. 🙁

I was just reading that the TiVo uses USB1.1 so does that mean no matter what our transfers would be limited to the 12mb USB1 limit? If so there would be no reason to move away from 802.11b

Actually, people do see quite a difference when transferring programs between tivo units using 802.11g. Right now, transferring a show takes quite a while for me. If I upgrade the network to 802.11g it will be much more bearable. Apparently you can almost stream programs then.

What 11g adapter are you using?

EDIT: Sorry I read your post wrong.

Although I haven't seen DirecTiVo alienated... I see only "standalone" units mentioned. 🙁

DirecTiVo's don't support TivoToGo...

There should be a new software update this month or early february for software 6.1 which will allow us to use the damn usb ports on the thing, but it still doesn't enable HMO on it 🙁

Me too. Only $12 at Fry's. 😛

I think I'll stick with the HTPC for a while longer... Great that these features are out, but I just have a hard time paying a subscription for this service.

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the release. It's killing me that I'm several states away from home and access to my TiVo service number so I can't sign up yet. I want it! I want it now!

still not enough to make my sign up with the 40H series 2 Tivo I got when they have them out for free in Cali

heh people who are smart have been able to do this for years now, i don't see the big deal ... aside from it being "legal" now i guess 😛

We stupid people are glad to be able to do this now and we think it's a big deal.

Has anyone compared this to the 'transfer to pc' hack used on the Replay TV 4500 and 5000 series?

I think I'm still leaning towards purchasing a second Replay TV because the interface is faster to navigate and the 4500 and 5000 series record automatically without commercials... Any reason I should go Tivo?
