tivo users: how do you change the default recording time on the tivo?

We currently have basic cable service so we don't get all the channels, but for some reason 2-3 channels does come through, like the travel channel and food network. We can manually record these channels but it's only at 30mins increment, is there anyway to increase to 1-2hr blocks, so I get the whole show?

It's the similar to how the tivo hasn't called home in awhile, it won't know what show is on? You can still record but only at 30mins blocks, can that be changed?

Are those channels checked as available in your channel settings?

nope, that's the problem. I guess I can run through and select extended basic as my service but then that'll bring up a bunch of channels that don't work.

Then you can go back and uncheck the ones you don't actually get.

Hm... I have a series 1 and can record by time & channel and tell it exactly when to start and exactly when to stop. Does your tivo not have a record by time & channel function?

Yes, they do, but the series 2 interface requires you to have the channels listed in your channel settings for that to work (at least with both of my series 2 units).
